⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (For food and character… minus one star for structural integrity)
We rolled into The Butcher Block around 11:00 a.m. on a Saturday, and immediately knew we were in the right place because the parking lot was packed with every brand of vehicle known to man — but mostly lifted 4×4 trucks. When the locals show up in force, it’s usually a good sign… and they weren’t wrong.
The wait? A bit much. The two waitresses were absolutely overwhelmed, hustling like they were competing in a CrossFit event. Owners — if you’re reading this — a little extra help on busy mornings might save a few souls (and sanity).
The restaurant itself is… let’s call it vintage. And by vintage, I mean it could use paint, maybe some remodeling, and possibly a structural engineer. This is the kind of place where tables rock back and forth, and you briefly consider using the old coaster-balancing trick before accepting defeat and eating diagonally.
When we arrived, the place was alive — tables turning fast, plates flying — but the aftermath lingered. It was basically “pick any clean table”, which narrowed the choices considerably. We patiently waited while the two heroic servers did a quick spritz-and-wipe and waved us in like air-traffic controllers. Then we entered… Waitsville.
The bathrooms? Totally sufficient. Think small bar you once saw an artist play at before they got famous. Functional, familiar, and mildly nostalgic.
Pro tip: Don’t sit down unless absolutely necessary.
Our waitress eventually arrived — slightly dazed, slightly confused, and clearly in survival mode. She was ready for drink orders only, which was impressive because we had already spent a solid 30 minutes bonding with the menu. But hey, it’s Saturday — expectations were adjusted.
Now, the important part: the food.
Hot. Delicious. Worth it.
Both meals were excellent. No complaints. This is why people come. This is why the parking lot looks like a truck show.
Breakfast for two came in around $45, which included:
A 3.5% credit card fee
18% automatic gratuity
No surprises — just know before you go.
Parking is partially paved, partially Florida sand and grass, which means you’ll have a fun souvenir later when you’re vacuuming sand out of your car. It’s Florida. You’ll survive.
Final Thoughts:
The Butcher Block is a hometown dive with a big heart and great food, slightly held together by nostalgia, determination, and possibly wood glue. It’s chaotic, charming, and absolutely worth the visit.
That said…
Please feed the New Table Fund.
I’d gladly buy a sticker that says “Help Us Buy New Tables” — because if this place had stable furniture, it’d be unstoppable.
Come hungry. Come patient. Tip well.
And maybe don’t lean too hard on the table
We had the tumble weeds (onion straws) & split a steak & cheese sandwich. Tumble weeds were good…huge portion. Steak & cheese was very dry & not enough meat & cheese, just a lot of bun.
Fair prices
Very cute decor
Employees ( & owner?) very pleasant & friendly
I’d stop again but maybe try the breakfast instead
We walked I. And maybe 3 tables were full. Shortly there after, all indoor tables were full and people started sitting outside. (And it was a bit chilly for FL.)
Service was top notch.
Food was excellent.
I highly suggest stopping in and giving this a try!
We had steak and cheese sandwich, fish fillet sandwich, as well as shrimp and grits.
I tried the breakfast Togo and did a omelette with a biscuit and gravy. The biscuit and gravy was the best. I called ahead and they said 15 minutes, I waited about another 15 to get order.
