We were thrilled to find that The Bus, which closed because of COVID, has reopened for the month of August, 2022, for takeout only and a limited menu (only halibut fish and chips). They have actually retired their original venue and are operating out of a small mobile kitchen with a picnic table on site for dining in. Next season they plan to be open from Memorial Day through Labor Day for both fish and chips and peel and eat shrimp. I had a delicious meal there after visiting fish creek. They still make the best fish and chips in all of Alaska!

The owners are very nice. We only ordered one dish for the family to sample. That was a huge mistake and we should have just ordered for everyone. Even the picky eaters loved it. Halibut and prawns were the freshest I’ve had, thick and juicy with excellent breading and fry job.
If you are lucky you may even get to hold a cute baby goat!!! A must stop.

We ate here in August of 2016, because of other reviews recommend one should eat here. Those previous reviews were right! The owner, who is also the cook, makes all the dishes fresh & it has been some of the best tasting seafood I’ve ever eaten. I highly recommend for everyone visiting Hyder to eat at The Bus. We will definitely be back to eat here again.

Don’t go late: we went on a beautiful Tuesday afternoon and she ran out of food at 2:30, which she said is earlier than usual. Also, google shows the hours to be 12-5 every day, but they’re CLOSED on Sundays.
Cash only in either US or Canadian bills.

Calfornia tourist (Family in BC) We stopped here on June 8th, 2024, on a day visit from Kitamat, and it was one of the best decisions of our life. The hospitality was amazing. The owners/operators are so kind and serve the best fish n chips I have EVER had. Their halibut is not only the freshest and most juiciest, but the chunks are so large they could compete in size with the state of Alaska. You must stop here. Some may consider being “Hyderized” as going to the local bar, but have you really even been to Hyder unless you’ve eaten here?

Great fish and chips, it was crispy, soft, and very fresh. They had malt vinegar out for the fries and ketchup as well. They are a cash only location but take both USD and CAD.
Super friendly pitty as well, he originally wanted to be petted but once I got my food that’s all he could stare at.
If you’re visiting Stewart, BC and driving through Hyder, I highly recommend you stop by to at least say hi to the pup!

Best Seafood you’ll find just about anywhere. Fresh from the boat! Ask at the gift shop how to find it. Or just keep an eye out for the sign when riding through Hyder. It’s a short block off the main road going to the bear viewing area.

This lady (working on her own) is so busy because it’s so good, the fish is fresh, and it’s so good … if you don’t have patience, & respect for good food…go elsewhere this place is hands down worth every penny and more. No pictures because I inhaled it, while sitting on the ground … this is hands down best meal this year and if you see my reviews I have ate at few good places 🙂 thanks will be back , highly recommend you come early

Are you kidding me? Some of the best Halibut fish and chips I’ve had. And it is from a shack! The batter was so light. The fish was generous and moist. Definitely worth finding this place!

An absolutely fantastic place! The fish and chips I had were the best I’ve ever tasted. The owner is incredibly friendly. I will definitely be coming back and highly recommend this place to everyone.
