Having not been too excited about the dining options downtown, I decided to head south on 395. I very shortly came upon a bright red food truck. I stopped and their two reviews were 5s so I decided to give it a try. Very glad I did. I was welcomed very nicely and after going over the menu for a while, went for the cornbread-coated fried shrimp tacos combination. There were 3 soft shell tacos with rice and black beans (so happy they weren’t refried). Everything tasted really good, enhanced by their salsa. Turns out they’ve only been open a few months but I hope their business is a success. Very good service and food at a reasonable price. Doesn’t get much better than that. Thanks.

Had the Chile Colorado and it was the perfect amount of spice to savoriness. Meat was tender and almost melted in my mouth. Could tell the tortilla was from scratch and salsa bar was also very fresh! Highly recommend if you want tasty food in John Day!

We stopped here on our road trip and it was A-MA-ZING! Very high quality and every component had so much flavor and was well thought out. We got the veggie burritos with the black beans (which are vegetarian) and WOW… Vegetarian or not their veg option is to die for: fire rusted poblanos, shredded roasted sweet potato, pepitas, and roasted corn. We had a lovely conversation with the owner Jason and I can tell he puts a lot of thought into each dish and how it’s cooked. Jason told us that a lot of people get half meat, half veggie to get the best of all the worlds. We got our son the mini black bean and cheese burrito and the black beans are just so delicious, I could eat them by themselves. In addition to the great entrees, the salsa bar is amazing as well. They had an the standards such as pico, rojo, avocado, and verde but they also had quite a few pickled options such as escabeche, pickled onions, and a delicious mango salsa. Highly recommend this place! It’s a gem in such a small town. Excellent flavor and service!

Just moving into our new place in Canyon City. We dropped the kitchen stove off the front steps. We ended up at Taco Co. for some dinner. The burrito was very tasty and big, I was so hungry! The fresh salsa bar was a big plus – everything was yummy!
We sat at the tables outside, and i felt like I was on vacation. Sunshine and a light breeze and the beautiful hillside to look at.
The staff was very friendly and nice.

This is one of the best Mexican restaurants I have been to. It’s definitely a surprise to find out in John Day, but it’s better than almost any Mexican food you’ll find in Portland (and possibly California too). Definitely worth a stop.

Well it is a food truck… Ordered the regular burrito with no rice extra carne asada and Hatch Chili’s for $18… Couldn’t taste the chilis and could bearly see any in it. A friend got the Quesadilla with Hatch and you total got the expected flavor. Guy was a bit rude when I asked him about it.
