The Burgh: Your Go-To Stop for Delicious Burgers in Thorold, ON
The Burgh, St. Catharines, ON – Reviews, Ratings, Tips … – Wanderlog
Reviews
I got the Mac Daddy burger, fries with dill dip, and a Frostie root beer. The burger held together much better than I expected considering it’s basically an entire barbecue dinner on a burger, and it was delicious. The fries were the perfect mix of crispy outside and fluffy inside.
Stephanie is super knowledgeable about everything on the menu, and an absolute sweetheart. She’s gonna do everything in her power to make sure you have a good experience.
The location is the only down side, but I am heavily biased against bar settings. There are tables available outside (weather permitting), and in the bar, but neither are overly comfortable. I’d suggest grabbing your food and a drink then heading to one of the many benches around town if you don’t like the available seating options.
Definitely a spot you should try out if you like good burgers, just don’t expect a typical restaurant experience because it isn’t your typical restaurant. It would probably be a perfect 5 star if I enjoyed a bar setting more.
Stephanie and the crew are amazing people, who put out amazing and honest food that isn’t at a ridiculous price point.
My only complaint is that they aren’t open later.
Love this place. And don’t sleep on their Jamaican patties!
Thanks guys!
On arrival we were surprised to learn The Burgh doesn’t have it’s own dining area – orders are placed at The Burgh which is a small area with a cash station and chalkboard menu. Then you have to go to the pub next door for service. Totally fine, we paid for our food order with credit and made our way down the street to the pub next door.
The pub is cash only for drinks and decor minimalistic. Food arrived promptly through a shared staff entrance but the burgers were incredibly greasy and not at all what we’d expected. The cheese burger had several types of cheese piled on but the most prominent was cheese whiz. I understand it was a cheese burger, so heavy on the cheese, but would you put spam on a meat sandwich?
We left two of our three burgers uneaten. The lady who served us was kind and tried to course correct; unfortunately the burgers just weren’t for us. I will say we scored the last Jamaican patty and it was absolutely delicious. Sadly with all of the other food left uneaten, it’s hard to justify $80 spent on three burgers and a Jamaican patty.
We were expecting a fun pub night with tasty food. It’s not at all what we experienced. Very disappointed!
We walked into their entrance and we were immediately greeted by the owner, I believe her name was Stephanie. She was extremely kind and was a treat to talk to. We ordered the Big Cheese (for myself), the Oklahoma (for my wife) and the standard burger (for my 3 year old son).
We wanted to dine in and she informed us that we were able to sit in the pub and she also served us while sitting in the pub next door. The kitchen connects The burgh to the pub so it’s convenient.
Once she brought out the food it smelled amazing and we couldn’t wait to take our first bite, once we both dug in we smiled and looked at each other and said this was the best burger we’ve ever had. The fries are also fantastic and needless to say we all finished our food.
Stephanie came out to check on us numerous times and wanted to ensure we were satisfied.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give this place a shot if you’re even thinking about it, the food and service is top notch and we cannot wait to go back!
Thank you again!!
