Did some work in La Porte from Chicago and wanted to stop somewhere local for a bite. It is Tuesday and the place has a nice crowd. The atmosphere is fun and festive with great decor and awesome beer on tap. The patio was colorful, fun and perfect for a summer night. I had the house burger which was 1/2 lb with lettuce, tomatoes, a special cheddar and their house sauce. I thought it was great. The woman that served us was seriously cool and fun to chat with. One of my coworkers even got hit on by two older lady’s at the table next to us that totally made his day. Overall, I loved the place. If I’m ever in La Porte again, I’ll be back.

Wife and I dropped in to the Burger Bar since it was National Cheeseburger Day, and we like the dive bars. No offense. Madison was friendly and engaging, and we enjoyed a couple of thick, crisp burgers with awesome toppings. We had some onion rings and a cocktail or two for not much money. Brought home leftovers. All things considered, we had a great meal and we will be going back soon! Added the picture of the turkey because Lorna took a great picture from the deck.

Had the pleasure to eat here tonight. Great service and out standing food. The downfall is, this is a smokers paradise!! Thing is I quit a couple years ago. Not degrading anyone, just stating what I feel and smelled. Take the smoke away this place would get a 4 or 5 rating from everyone!!

My beautiful wife and I were in town for a concert at the Civic center. We decided to eat dinner at a local joint. Burgers sounded good so we decided to try this place.
Outside appearance made us a little concerned, but once we were in we realized it was a locals hangout. Nice people. The place reminded me of a dive that you might see on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives.
Burgers were very good. You build it your way, from bread, bun, or even a tortilla wrap (my wife opted for the wrap; very good) and then whatever other toppings you want. Fries and Onion rings were also really good.
Service was a little slow, but it was a new bartender/server and they had just gotten slammed right before we arrived. So I didn’t consider it too strongly in my rating.
If we are in the area again and hungry for a burger we will be back.

I should preface this review by saying one of the people I dined with during this visit is related to the owner, so take that into account.
Wasn’t sure what to expect from this place, but was pleasantly surprised. I went with some people from work for team building. I knew that smoking was allowed in this place, but decided to go anyway. The smoke smell was nowhere near as bad as I expected, but I would imagine it would irritate those with lung conditions. Mind you, there were only two other people in the restaurant and only one was smoking. None of which were in my group.
I had the biscuits and gravy during my visit. The serving size is totally worth the price you pay. From what I understand as well, it’s home made as well. So if you want some really tasty biscuits with sausage gravy, definitely check this place out in the morning.
If we would have eaten here during lunch time I would have tried a burger for sure. One person in our group ordered one and it looked really good.

We went here for lunch, and just pulling in I had a bad feeling, the building is easy to miss. It looks run down. Inside, is very dirty, yes its a bar and grill, but I have seen cleaner bars. The owners were doing shots with their friends and the bartender/waitress. We ordered the chicken of the week and a burger, the chicken actually wasn’t bad. The burger on the other hand, was disgusting. I can say with confidence, by far the worst burger I’ve had in my life. The meat had a weird taste, I ordered onion on mine which I was unaware came with a half of an onion on the burger…not a few slices, but half of an onion. There was so much beer cheese on it I couldn’t even pick it up, it ruined the bottom bun. I took one bite and was done, and was still charged for the nasty burger. Very unhappy and I will not be returning. I think they have a good concept but a lazy cook and drunk staff. Oh and the table even felt dirty. I’m not sure when the last time they cleaned in there but it was gross. Everything, even the floors were disgusting. I would not recommend unless you’re drunk or just going for an appetizer.
