Nestled in the heart of Corona del Mar lies The Bungalow. This charming Craftsman style restaurant is minutes from the heart of Newport Beach’s premier business and shopping center, Fashion island, yet it feels miles apart. We serve handshaken martinis, expansive wine list, seafood such as oysters, lobster and Chilean Seabass. We also offer prime steaks and prime rib on Sundays. Private events? We host those, too! We have an indoor and covered patio area for private events and would love to host your next event!
Festive go-to for steaks, seafood & martinis in a lodgelike space with booths & white tablecloths.

While we were sitting and chatting, enjoying our appetizers and drinks a waitress walked by, stopped halfway out to the patio, stuck her entire nail and first digit it a Martini she was bringing a guest, pulled something out ( my granddaughter thinks a hair) and then proceeded to deliver the drink to the poor un-expecting guest. So gross.
Then our entrees arrived. My granddaughter and I had the short rib. It had a nice sauce over it. Which was nice as it was so dry it was hard to eat. We arrived at 4pm, when they opened. I feel terrible for anyone getting this meal after us. My wife had the steak and enjoyed it. She wished the prepared menu for the night had included a vegetable. My granddaughter and I both agreed. Ours had some as a garnish, but that all. All three had mashed potatoes that were fine.
Lastly the prepared menu came with one desert option. It was two chocolate covered strawberries and two small chocolate mousse in a chocolate cup. That was two for the table. I guess if my wife and I had come alone that would have been perfect. We we asked and happy accepted to have our granddaughter this night. So we were three. We paid full price for three. You would think someone would have thought to bring a set of three, not two to our table. No, two of the two deserts. Which was fine, I gave my granddaughter and wife the strawberrys and my wife and I split a small mousse. Not a big deal. Not going to wreck a night by any stretch. Just another example of the lack of attention to details and how unprofessional this staff is.
Needless to say, we will NOT be back. For a quick $500.00 meal for three people, we expected a little more. Not much, but a bit. This was a poor experience.
We got the butternut squash and bungalow salad as starters. The pasta was good but I especially enjoyed the salad. My husband got the NY strip. He liked the steak but thought the horseradish potato gratin was just ok. I got the short rib with mashed potatoes and broccoli and it was so good.
Dessert was molten lava cake and the creme brûlée (diet starts Monday!). The brûlée wasn’t the best I’ve had but it was still good. The molten lava wasn’t very molten but was rich and with the vanilla ice cream really hit the spot.
We’re adding The Bungalow to our rotation for special occasions!
Parking: there is some street parking behind the restaurant, and public parking next to the park one street down from PCH. Otherwise valet right behind the restaurant.
Food: what you would expect from a high end steak and seafood place. Everything is well prepared technically, with some interesting twists. For example the calamari is prepared sweet and sour style (think chicken).
Service: excellent! At a time when service seems to be in decline in many places, this place maintains its high standard. Our server (Bobby it I recall) had great timing, great suggestions, and was friendly, making the pacing of the meal pleasant.
When we came in recently, they had a lobster fest event (not sure if it was regular or recurring). You got a 5oz lobster tail with select entrees for free, which was a nice bonus.
What a fantastic dining experience this evening at The Bungalow in Corona Del Mar. The hostesses were very friendly and professional as was the Valet attendant. We were seated at a lovely booth in the dining room. Derrick was our server extraordinare. What an amazing person, professional and kind. We started with drinks and my wife had her favorite, Don Julio Blanco with Topo Chico and three limes muddled with mint and I had bottled water and a soft drink. We both started with salads and my wife had the Cesar salad and I had the wedge. Both salads were presented well and very tasty. Oscar, another fine individual came by and brought us fresh bread and also attended to our table. We so enjoyed the evening with great conversation and fantastic food.
Derrick took our entree order as well and my wife had the seabass entree, butterfield and I had the filet mignon entree with melted blue cheese and a side of sautéed spinach. The meals came out beautifully prepared and presented and the taste of both meals were excellent. I finished with an Americano and some additional conversation and then Kevin, one of the managers, stopped by to thank us for coming in while asking how everything was. We thanked Kevin and praised the staff, food and overall experience.
Highly recommended

What an amazing dining experience at the Bungalow in Corona Del Mar this evening. We had reservations and were seated promptly upon arrival at a wonderful booth near the front window in the dining room. The restaurant has several dining areas with your choice of the front or rear patios, the bar area and the dining room. All of the staff members were welcoming and friendly as well as professional. Sarah our amazing server was nothing short of spectacular and her assistant Sammy was stellar as well. We started with drinks and my wife had the Don Julio Blanco with pelligrino and three limes muddled with mint and I had The Prisoner red blend. For appetizers my wife had the grilled artichoke and I had a wonderful romaine salad. Everything was stellar and the service is top shelf. Great people, the ambiance is so pleasant and peaceful as well as romantic. Sarah too our entree orders and my wife had the Sea Bass dish and I had the Filet mignon with mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach. Everything was 5 star plus. To cap off the evening I had an Americano which was perfect. The Bungalow is clearly at the top of our list when it comes to local dining.
Thanks for a wonderful evening.

What an amazing dining experience tonight at the Bungalow in Newport Beach. We had reservations for 5pm and arrived a bit early, and the hostess was so kind and took us to a cozy booth near the window. Bob was our amazing server and introduced himself while taking our drink and appetizer order. We started with the grilled artichoke and the short rib ravioli appetizers. My wife ordered a Don Julio Blanco with pelligrino and three limes muddled with mint, and I had a few glasses of “The Prisoner” blend by Prisoner Wine Co. The drinks and appetizers were amazing. Ashley, Linda, Oscar, Rogelio, and Sammy made the evening special with their amazing customer service. It’s an amazing team! For our entrees, my wife ordered the fresh seabass, and I had the filet mignon with blue cheese crumbles, prawns, and mashed potatoes. Both entrees were heavenly, and the presentation, taste, and temperature superb. The conversation and ambiance were simply Devine. This restaurant establishment is top shelf, and we will certainly be back as this was our first visit. We capped off the evening with an Americano coffee and the Tollhouse Pie dessert with added berries. The overall experience was nothing short of fantastic, and I commend all of the staff for making it such a memorable visit. Highly recommended.
I sat out in the covered area in the back, it wasn’t too busy and the service was spot on, friendly and checked in with water and the food.
My Salmon was cooked perfectly. At first I thought there wasn’t enough potatoes, however it was just the right amount of portion for potatoes that when I was done with my meal I was satisfied and full, but not uncomfortably full.
The calamari breading was exceptional, fried to a perfect consistency. While I typically prefer marinara with calamari, the accompanying sauce was quite enjoyable.
The beef dip featured a toasted bread roll with sautéed onions, which was fantastic.
The Cabernet red wine I had was good, though I cannot recall its specific name.
The entire team is attentive, organized, and truly goes above and beyond to make every event feel special and seamless. On top of the incredible service, the food was outstanding—I had the Chilean sea bass and it absolutely melted in my mouth, while others ordered the corn chowder and filet and were raving about both.
The Bungalow has become our go-to spot for holiday gatherings—highly recommend!
