Reviews
Food was good, they have Italian, Mexican, Soul Food, Asian Food, Salad Bar, Soup Bar. Ice Cream Bar, Dessert, Cookies and Cakes. They even have Sugar Free and Gluten Free Dessert. Don’t skip the Asian Salad like Pickled Radish, Cucumber, Spinach and Edamame. Ahi Tuna Steak and fresh Seaweed was so good, have to get the 2nd plate.
Wonton noodle soup and Beef Pho were a little under seasoned. Chicken Soup and Beef Stew were so good.
The Chicken
The chicken was so dry I’m convinced it had been mummified for display in a museum before being tossed under the heat lamps. I needed a whole glass of water just to swallow a few bites, and even then, I felt like I was chewing on sandpaper marinated in disappointment.
The Sides
The sides? Imagine someone boiled flavor out of vegetables, then whispered the word seasoning from across the room. That’s about as close as they got. The mashed potatoes tasted like drywall paste, and the mac and cheese was more mac and sadness.
The Desserts
Dessert should be the saving grace of any buffet. Not here. The cakes were stale, the cookies tasted like cardboard, and the puddings had the flavor profile of… nothing. Honestly, I’ve had more excitement licking an envelope.
The Comparison
Here’s the kicker: Golden Corral is a better deal. Yes, Golden Corral. When you’re losing to the place that serves cotton candy next to meatloaf, you might want to reevaluate your life choices as a restaurant.
Final Verdict
If you’re considering going here, save your money. Or better yet, just eat the box the food came in—it’ll probably taste the same, and at least you won’t feel betrayed.
This buffet wasn’t just bad—it was a culinary hostage situation.
I remember my days as a server and cannot imagine any of the serving staff there working in an actual restaurant.
The last time I went to this buffet, I DID get great service from a busser and made sure they were tipped on top of our automatic large group gratuity.
Unfortunately, it seems whenever my family comes with a group over 5 people and we pay an advanced gratuity, the serving staff just snubs us and we literally have to flag them down. It is not uncommon for serving staff to blatantly roll their eyes.
Yes, we have a large group. Yes, we stay for hours. We are paying customers and we deserve impeccable service.
I really do not enjoy leaving this buffet feeling so upset by the end every time. So frustrating because Friday night crab legs are a family tradition. I’m hoping to find an alternative very soon!
Every time we visit the Fort McDowell We-Ko-Pa buffet, we’re treated like a burden. The servers are rude, unresponsive, and clearly don’t want to be bothered. On our last visit, we had to ask a busser for help because no server would even acknowledge us. When we tried to flag someone down, they literally rolled their eyes at us.
This isn’t an isolated incident — it’s a pattern. The staff consistently acts like they’re doing you a favor by simply doing their job. For the price they charge, the lack of basic courtesy is unacceptable.
The food isn’t good enough to justify being treated this poorly. We’re done giving them chances.
The snow crab.
I guess the supplier didn’t want to bend on there price.
Im bummed out.
