Tried their buffet for the first time on BoGo Tuesday. Advertised as $35.99 a person with a membership card, but was charged $38.99. Was told that they changed the pricing despite the postings on the walls and the PA advertising the BoGo buffet for $35.99 with a membership card. The food itself is fine for a small casino buffet. Limited selection of food offered. The service is excellent and very friendly and attentive. Also, good atmosphere and very clean. I will probably come back, but only on Tuesdays. Tentative

A lot of the pastas and other foods were very bland, they looked great but didn’t taste how they looked. Crabs actually tasted good but were weirdly sticky. Service was excellent! Atmosphere was great. It’s worthwhile if you’re looking for a buffet.

All of the seafood was very disappointing. Spareribs were disgusting. Old. Freezer burnt. The prime rib was tough. The horse radish was flavorless. Friendly service.
Save your money and avoid. In N Out is just down the street.

The buffet is located in the old sands casino hotel now called “J” resort. The area is being touted by the city of Reno as the neon area. They are revitalizing the area to try and spark interest in the history of the area.
As for the buffet it is a smaller buffet than toucan Charlie’s at the Atlantis casino and the buffet at the GSR casino.
I was there on a Monday, and low and behold it was crab night. REALLY on a Monday!
It was 39.99 per adult, so I tried it out. Personally if you compare the offering to a high end casino buffet like toucan Charlie’s or the bacchanal at Caesars in Las Vegas then you have high expectations.
The food here was not bad. It was good tasting, but the offerings were less than the GSR and toucan Charlie’s in Reno.
My favorite was the shell fish, cooked Italian style. Roast beef and whatever. The crab was actually an after thought. It was snow crab, so not a big deal.
The desserts were presented in a glass case.

We we’re looking for a place that had a crab leg buffet and this place popped up! Pricing was extremely well! $38.99 for the buffet or get a players club card and its $35.99. If you are local to Reno you can get 25% of your price anytime! The food selection was good, crab legs were abundant. Prime rib was good. They have crab legs and prime rib 7 days a week. The array of desserts was amazing! Very delicious!! Very nice host and waiters! We will definitely be back!!

We decided to check out the buffet at the J casino. We were super excited about them having crab legs on weekdays. Unfortunately we were terribly disappointed. The crab legs were old, dry and cooked in water with way too much salt. Never have I had dried out crab legs that were yellow. The rest of the food was only so so at best. Hopefully it get better but I’m skeptical!

Buffets can go south really quick: heat lamps leading to dry food, lousy staff, crowds… This was none of that. This was the best buffet I’ve been to in a long time. All of the food is fresh and delicious, All of the staff I’ve talked to have been attentive and friendly, and the dessert? Amazing. I’ll definitely be back.

Come early to get the food and if you come late the buffet will be running out of food and make excuses for not having enough food for customers and sometimes won’t give you back your money after you have already paid maybe some of your money but not a full money back so make sure you ask about the food if they are running out of food
The food here is good and service but I only give 2 stars because of this situation above this has happened more than just one time it has happened multiple times
This is like a kitty buffet go to GSR OR ATLANTIS CASINO OR PEPPERMILL CASINO FOR A GOOD BUFFET
THIS BUFFET AT THE J CASINO IS WORTHLESS

Great food and service is very friendly and welcoming to you and willing to help you fine the food you want
All you can eat

I have been searching a while for any decent buffet in Reno, NV area & finally decided to come here mainly attracted with crab legs for $37.99/person & tax.

In short, everything was going well as far as concerned with quality of food for such a price & excellent service with friendly & welcoming smile.

If you like to be a place in a medium scale restaurant w/o robbing your wallet with decent edible quality of food, you can’t go wrong with your choice in “the buffet”.

The J Resort is up to date. The Buffett service was attentive and courteous. The serving Ang dining areas, new and appealing.

The food ingredients were impressive. King crab legs, muscles, clams, shrimp, prime rib, a whole pig, and so on. Unfortunately the preparation was only fair. At the time of this review, the price was a little under $40 per person. I would have liked simple comfort food prepared well against the spread that was provided.
