Check for hair in your food!

When we arrived, they weren’t too busy and we were able to get seated immediately which was great. Then we don’t get any menus until at least 5minutes after being seated which was strange. Then they brought the menu and within less than 2minutes another server comes to take out orders. After we told her we just got the menu she gives us more time until we are ready to order.
I got the blueberry matcha latte and it was literally the best matcha latte I’ve ever tried! That is the sole reason this review is getting a 2 star and not a 1 star review.
The food however is a different story. I got the “French toasty” (French toast with berries and condensed milk, side of egg, side of bacon) and taste wise, it was okay…. Until I found a hair cooked within my french toast…
The person at brunch with me calmed me down after pulling out a medium length thick black hair in pieces since it was cooked into the toast. Unfortunately I didn’t want to make a scene and don’t like confrontation so I just paid and left without finishing my meal.
I do however have an image of the food before I started eating it and you can clearly see the hair cooked into and some of it sticking out it the image….
For reference, neither of us have that short of hair or that color hair. I obviously got nauseous and still feel gross for eating almost half of the food before realizing there is hair in it.
Price wise, in total with tip, we spent a bit over 50 dollars for 2 drinks and 2 food items.

Delicious dishes and great vegetarian options. One of my favorite breakfast spots! My go-to order is the TBD breakfast rice bowl with the crispy tofu – – the herbs and house dressing really add to the dish. The chao ga (vegan version rice porridge) and Dau Phu bowl are really good as well. Cute dining space, sunny and warm.

The Breakfast Den on South Street is an absolute gem. From the moment you walk in, the vibe is warm, welcoming, and full of personality. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and comforting…the kind of breakfast that actually makes your day better. Portions are generous, prices are fair, and everything tastes like it was made with care.

The staff deserves a special shout-out: friendly, attentive, and genuinely happy to have you there. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or sitting down to enjoy a full breakfast, the service never disappoints.

TBD hosted my husband’s 40th birthday party and everything went smooth like butter. Thai (owner) made sure to discuss everything in prep for the party and she is very flexible and creative in formulating a menu that suits your flavor profile. She created a Bun Cha Hanoi summer roll as my husband’s roll because he loves that dish. The dishes were amazing… my favorite was the mini Thit Kho Hash with a quail egg. Everyone was raving about the food especially the spring rolls. The hand crafted drinks were delicious- my fave was strawberry matcha oat milk! Yumoh. Oh and the pastry chef created a delicious and dare I say, moist, vanilla cupcakes with a decadent lychee buttercream frosting. I can’t say enough good things about the food and service. Highly recommend. TBD is a must for breakfast or brunch! 10/10

the food here is amazing! whether you get breakfast or lunch, it’s all delicious. the space is small so there may be a small wait for a table, but the staff and servers are great.

Got breakfast here this morning. The omelette was very hearty and tasty, though my breakfast buddy wasn’t a fan. Personally, I loved the interesting menu options and the Vietnamese coffee and the decore are great. I say 4 and not 5 stars, because it’s really too loud in there. Some sort of sound dampening would be great as I had to shout to have a conversation across the table.

A really good fusion Vietnamese breakfast place! If you’re a big fan of Asian food, get a bowl of chao ga chicken porridge. If you want a typical breakfast with Vietnamese pulled pork, thit kho hash is the best choice for you. I’d come back for trying more Veit dish they have. The place itself is little too small and crowded tho, but it’s worth it.

My girlfriend and I are here visiting for the weekend. We are from Massachusetts and it’s our first time in Philly. Our original plan was to go to another place. But life works in mysterious ways. As soon as you walk in, you’re comforted with a sense of familiarity. It really does feel like home. Hard working people that enjoy what they do. Now the food, I’ve always loved Vietnamese. Especially Bahn Mi’s! Mixing brunch with their cuisine was not only genius, but the execution was stellar. I got a breakfast rice bowl and a crispy pork belly bahn. My girl got a breakfast bahn mi (madness!). Did I mention the porks egg rolls? I’ll have dreams about them I know it…. As you can tell, we were STARVING when we went and they did not disappoint. Very nice people. The ambience was so warm and beautiful. My favorite part was the back wall. As you can see, it was repaired our refurbished. But they decided to built around it. Make the imperfections speak for themselves. And it was breathtaking. So much love went into this place. I hope they continue to do what they love and people coming to support a beautiful business. My only regret is not trying the congee. Until next time!
