I visited The Breakfast Club on Saturday after a 5K in Starkville. I expected it to be busy due to normal weekend traffic, but it was extremely crowded that morning.

Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing due to the service. When we were seated, the waitress immediately asked what we wanted to order without providing menus. When we requested menus, she responded with an attitude that felt unnecessary and unwelcoming.

During our visit, the restaurant had run out of several menu items, including eggs and bacon. While I understand this was likely due to delivery issues caused by the winter storm—and not the restaurant’s fault—the frustration seemed to be taken out on customers. The staff appeared irritated, and that energy definitely affected the dining experience.

Our order was delayed, and the only reason we knew it was ready was because a waitress repeatedly stated that it was “up.” The two people dining with us ordered about 20 minutes before we did and never received their food. When they asked about it, the waitress became visibly upset and said she wasn’t sure if it would be coming, possibly due to unavailable items.

My complaint isn’t about the restaurant running out of food; things happen. It was the poor attitudes and lack of communication that stood out. The food we did receive was dry and looked hastily put together. Given the price point, I expected a much better overall experience.

Very good breakfast! Ordered the southern breakfast. I had scrambled eggs, hash brown casserole, toast, and bacon. Husband had fried eggs over well, grits, toast, and bacon. We had already had coffee so we had coke. Quick and made to order. It was 30 tip and all.

Went in for breakfast on what appeared to be a typical morning . After a prolonged wait of about 30 minutes we were finally seated. Our very sweet waitress quickly came to take our order but soon returned to tell us they had run out of a few of the items we had ordered, ie.. biscuits for biscuit and gravy, ham, etc.. after about 50 minutes f waiting for our food we noticed that tables around us were receiving their orders at different times like 2 people of 6 got their food then another table got their food and then they came back to bring another plate to the original table u til finally they had all gotten their food. Fast forward finally to us and the waitress comes to tell us they are now serving lunch and would we like to order from the lunch menu because the kitchen was now going to serve lunch. Well for us it was a no because we had by this time already been there almost 2 hours and had long since ordered breakfast. Overall a terrible experience although we ultimately got a haphazardly put together breakfast through no fault of our waitress who maintained her sweetness and kept apologizing to us. Checking out was a rude experience as well but that’s another rant entirely. Overall new owners need to get it together since it USED to be a great place to go for breakfast on the weekends.
Wouldn’t really name it the Jive guys since now it’s more like the “dive” guys.
Won’t likely be back. Sad experience.

I know this place just changed owners, so I’m going to try again in a few weeks, but as of right now I’m not enjoying the changes.

We were told to sit at any table and someone would be by to clean it shortly. So we sat at a table and got to look at two half eaten plates of food for a few minutes until someone came by to grab the plates and spray us and the table down with whatever they were using to clean the table. My food was cold and bland. The dressing was fresh out of the refrigerator, dry, and had very little flavor. The rice and gravy looked like it was a microwaved frozen dinner and the gravy tasted like water with black pepper. I did not finish my food and ended up going somewhere else.

Why is this place named the BREAKFAST Club if it stops serving breakfast at 10:30 am? Even on the weekend when people are expecting breakfast/brunch food through lunch!

We made it to the counter to order at 10:36 (arrived prior to 10:30 am) and were told they had switched over to lunch service. Literally the entire line of about 2 dozen people behind us turned around and walked out.

And then our “lunch food” came out a hour later with cold macaroni and cheese. Fried chicken was good though.

Seems like they’d take a cue from customers that people want breakfast food on the weekends, particularly football game weekends.

The solution:serve only breakfast on the weekend or for game weekends only! Or rename the restaurant that isn’t a breakfast restaurant beyond fast food breakfast hours!

We never write reviews- but wish we had read the reviews before going. They were out of just about everything- fruit, ham, potatoes, etc. we settled for a breakfast burrito and an $18 omelette. The most pitiful excuse for a breakfast. The most bland breakfast we have ever had. Not worth the time or money.

If you love seeing waitresses eating breakfast not serving you this is the perfect place for you! You want some sour cream? You’ll only have to wait 20 minutes for them to finish their breakfast before they relay to you they are out! Overall perfect spot to watch all the workers eat infront of you!!

On a brisk Sunday morning, me and my fiancé were looking for a spot to enjoy breakfast before church. After the big Mississippi state win against Arizona state there was no available spots to be found. However by the grace of god this spot popped up on the list of breakfast food restaurants and we were more than presently surprised. This restaurant has been robbed of a 5 star Rating that it well deserves. This injustice can not go unpunished. The southern breakfast plate was spectacular, the eggs were savory, light, airy, and fluffy with the sausage and hash brown casserole complementing it stunningly parking spot on this road right here. My fiancé got the chocolate chip pancakes and graced me with one bite about the size of a Penny and thats all it took for my socks to spontaneously fly off my feet, i was overjoyed with how sweet and light these pancakes were it defied all laws of flavor. I would recommend this place to my most Favorite cousin. Compliments to the chef!

We had such a great time and we couldn’t figure out why it was not rated 5. Pancakes were great and the eggs were miraculously perfect. They were light, fluffy and airy. Deliciously savory in every bite
