Brass Onion has a modern look to country chic as this comfort restaurant serves comfort food meets upscale southern flair. I went during restaurant week, so here are my thoughts…
The Carmellized Onion Dip with Crostini was alright as I saw more green onion vs carmellized onion and the flavor lacked depth. I added salt, but felt flat.
The cup of gumbo was hearty, rich, and a joy to eat between bold flavors, a little spice, and to want a bowl instead.
The Iowa double cut pork chop with mashed potato, sautéed mushrooms, and a gouda mornay sauce has highs and suggestions. The pork chop was smoked, seared nicely, and juicy. The potatoes and gouda mornay sauce needed to be elevated with salt and seasoning. The mushrooms sautéed were a great edition when you think of all the components together complimenting each other.
The main dish paired beautifully with the Old Fashioned made with rum under barrel aged cocktails because of the cinnamon, black pepper, and cherry notes.
I will come back to try some others when looking over the main menu during my dining experience.

The Brass Onion in Overland Park is a standout destination for comfort food with a sophisticated twist. Our experience was fabulous from start to finish, and it’s clear this restaurant has found its rhythm when it comes to quality, flavor, and warm hospitality.
For entrées, we ordered Mr. B’s Fried Chicken and the Shrimp and Grits, and both were exceptional. The fried chicken was crispy, juicy, and seasoned to perfection—comforting and nostalgic while still elevated. The shrimp and grits were rich, creamy, and packed with flavor, offering a classic Southern dish with just the right balance of boldness and finesse.
To finish the meal, we shared the Chocolate Pecan Pie, which was everything a dessert lover could hope for—decadent, gooey, and layered with flavor from the buttery crust to the nutty, chocolatey filling.
Service was attentive and genuine throughout, adding to the welcoming and well-paced dining experience. The ambiance was relaxed yet polished, perfect for anything from a date night to a family celebration.
We’re already looking forward to going back and exploring more of the menu. The Brass Onion is a standout spot in the Overland Park dining scene—and one that absolutely deserves repeat visits.

Nicole was our server. She was delightful and very attentive.
The drinks were made well and strong. I had the onion burger no bun plus bacon and cheese. The creamed brussel sprouts were very good.
For dessert I tried the chocolate martini. It was a little too sweet for my taste but very yummy

Great date night location, Food was awsome and the atmosphere with the dim lights made it feel warm. The dishes tried Fried Chicken like no other, lobster deviled eggs were good but the lobster was just on top not incorporated (heads up)

Cocktail I had was called pour decisions and it was so good I had two!
Starting with the onion dip which was light and delicious served with fresh toast points. Side salad next which was fresh and well done. Then came the shrimp and grits which was honestly better than some I have had in Louisiana! The sauce was absolutely delicious well balanced with spice. I’m honestly still thinking about how good the meal was. Dessert was their famous carrot cake and it did not disappoint!
I can’t wait to go back and enjoy this place again soon.

I never give 5 stars. Never. But this place made my wife and I feel special. The atmosphere is old school upscale. Like up state New York. Luckily we walked in with decent shirts on lol. Lots of unique food that all sounded amazing.
We settled on two dishes. I got the chicken and waffles. Wife got the crab cake eggs benedict. Everything tasted great.
The service was also superb. He recommended a few things and in the end he was correct. Just an all around great experience and will be going back, with our teenage daughter. Will update with her review

Enjoyed a night out. They were able to accommodate us last minute changing a reservation for 2 to 4 on a sat evening. I had the salmon and the girls had the chicken. We also had a steak. We all loved our meals down to the sides. Someone who normally dislikes cornbread took some home. The chicken was great and was any way you want it. My wife asked for and recieved all thighs. Services was great but not overly so. The kitchen had a glitch and we didn’t even notice until the server said something about our food being delayed. We were busy with our appetizer. Very happy and will return to try more on the menu. The scallops were some if the “best I have ever had” is all my son would say and I agree. Everything was good but not as great as the scallops. The beignet were also great! The jumblia pasta was very good with a good kick in the end. Crab cakes and catfish bites for appetizers were super hot and very tasty. Both came with a good roumolade. We also had the Ruben that was delight full. We have not had a bad dish here.

Lunch on valentine’s day. Prime rib french dip and a cup of gumbo with thru fabulous cornbread for the hubby. Shrimp and grits for me! So yummy! Will go again.
Spencer was great. Nice atmosphere.
My husband thoroughly enjoyed the jambalaya. Plenty of shrimp, sausage, and chicken. Was pleasantly surprised that the shrimp tails were removed. He had the cornbread which was amazing. I enjoyed the short rib, made and roasted vegetables. Everything was so good.
