The Branding Iron just moved from Rollinsville (formerly the Stage Stop) to Nederland! We love the new venue, and are proud to carry on the tradition of the original Branding Iron which existed in the same spot in the mid-1900s. Come and enjoy our fine food and great atmosphere! Outdoor patio too!
Old-fashioned eatery & bar featuring a menu of breakfast, pizza & American entrees, plus live music.

Food was meh in my opinion and overpriced. I had the chicken fried steak and eggs and it looked amazing but was very bland as well was the home fries. My roomie had the huevos rancheros and wasn’t impressed either. There are better places in Ned to eat in my honest opinion.

It was great! Heather cooked my steak and eggs perfectly! It was a super comfortable place to hang out and read a little after breakfast, too! Dinner there last night was equally good. All of the staff were very nice, but if you visit on a Saturday, be sure to ask for Sally!

Loved it! Our waitress recommend all the barbecued stuff —which they smoke in house— and we had the brisket and pork and both were great. So were the homemade beans. Also, the price was very reasonable 12-14$/ plate. Atmosphere was a bit meh, it the food was really good.

Love the back patio (very dog friendly) and service. Band playing outside on a Sunday night was a pleasant surprise. Amazing hamburger! Finally… Actually fresh, hand pattied beef on a very good bun. New favorite place in Ned. Six stars if they didn’t have to close early because we all bought all of their food.

I’ve never been happier to lose one of my favorite mountain stops. The owner moved into this location from her old bar in Rollinsville. I’m so happy that this building is back in the swing of being awesome. And it couldn’t have fallen into better hands IMO. Thoughtful food, great service and locally owned. Go here! Eat great food! Drink great drinks! I’ll be back every time were in town. Thanks for a great experience, Branding Iron!

This is a fun stop in the mountains not far from Denver. The food was great, the service was great, and the atmosphere is fun. Mostly mountain locals drinking until something bad happens, which (if some of the other reviews are to be believed) often does. The centerpiece of this unique bar’s decor are dozens of painted square wood boards screwed into the wall, each with its own kooky charm. My advice, stop in for lunch, I can imagine the place might devolve into something quite different as the blood alcohol levels rise throughout the evening. Unless that’s your sort of thing, that is.

I am not really sure why this place is so highly rated. We have been living in this area for 13 years. We decided to give this place a try on a winter Saturday night. The experience was less than desirable. One of the employees was getting drunk at the bar mixing beer with whiskey shots. He was loud, obnoxious and plain vulgar. The hamburgers were less than OK for a $12.50 or so price tag. Think of Boulder’s West End Tavern, Oscar Blues and Mountain Sun for excellent burgers cheaper than $12.50. If you are looking for a pleasant Colorado mountain town dinner experience, do yourself a favor, avoid this place and go to Crosscut Pizza or even Backcountry Pizza. Unfortunately Nederland does not yet have a decent hamburger place !

We were excited about a new restaurant in Nederland since we have a cabin by Ward. The first time we went, we had great Salty Dogs and the hush puppies which were delicious! Second time was a total bust — sent the chicken fried steak back because the meat was red. Came back looking microwaved and though the coating look fried, there was a layer of uncooked batter between meat and fry. The owner, sitting at a table nearby, courteously waived our bill yet made a comment that perhaps we would be better off with frozen chicken fried steak. That’s the end of our desire to frequent her place!

Cool staff, cool place, but they were a little overwhelmed by all the Cornhusker fans (myself included) in town for the Nebraska versus Colorado game in Boulder. Definitely recommend checking the place out. No bells and whistles, but food was great and it’s kind of the perfect hole-in-the-wall bar for some day drinking.

Saw a great band here one night, hung out with some great people another night. Had a chicken salad which was excellent. The bartenders seemed to have a bit of a hard time keeping up with the crowd the night of the band, but otherwise I really like this place. Cool deck upstairs with a beatific view of Rollinsville.
