Sir, you are doing a fabulous job. The Boxcar has great diner flare with delicious food to accompany it. We found The Boxcar on Tripadvisor and the reviews drew us in. The friendly staff and delicious food are worth a visit. You can tell the Chef takes pride in every dish he creates.
We started with the deep fried pickles and side salad. Each made fresh not that prepackaged stuff. For his entree my husband choose the A-1 BBQ meatloaf with parsley smashed potatoes and sauteed fresh veggies to include onion, squash, zucchini, asparagus tips and mushroom caps. The meatloaf was moist and flavorful and the veggies cooked just right.
I choose the chili dogs topped with coleslaw, I wanted that on the side. The hotdogs had a firm bite, not like they had been soaking in wiener water soup all day. The loaded steak fries had real cheddar cheese, not fake orange slimy stuff.
Our meals were great. As we waited for ours to arrive, not long at all, we glanced at all the meals going to other tables. Everything looked great and delicious.
I did read about The Boxcar on the menu, it discussed when and how the establishment was created. Stop in, read it then order a delicious meal.

Stopped by here to have lunch for first time while coming thru area for GeoCaching, Wow, i had the Chicken Wrap with Baked Beans they were absolutely Delicious, the place was clean, well setup and the Staff was very Nice, Thanks a Bunch for Lunch, defiantly come to place when in area.

As of late, the food here is honestly hit and miss. I had a ramp burger here last year that was absolutely one of the best burgers I’ve ever eaten, but the next visit the meal left me wishing I had instead eaten at Wendy’s a few blocks up the road. Service recently has been absolutely abysmal with the server only putting forth the minimal effort and not checking in whatsoever with the table after the meal arrives…there merely shouldn’t be any difficulty flagging down a waitress for a miniscule need such as a drink refill in an establishment this small. I don’t know what is going on behind the scenes, but I hope the owner can turn things around soon; an empty dining room on a Friday night when this restaurant used to be jam packed is regretfully a very bad sign. Sadly, it isn’t worth wasting my time and gas to drive up here from Parkersburg anymore for a lackluster meal.

I’m allergic to onions. Was not told my meal would have scallions on it. We ordered the boxcar fries without scallions. We told the waitress I was allergic. She acted like she didnt care. She acted that way the whole time we were there. I will not be going back here for dinner anymore. The service was terrible.

In St. Marys to visit family and stopped into the Boxcar for lunch because we had heard good things. It did not disappoint. They have have done a great job with the decor. The service was friendly and, although not particularly fast we did recognize that a very large group had placed their order right before us.
I had probably the best Cuban Panini I’ve ever had. No deli sliced ham here – it was baked ham and baked pork in big hunks with really good pickles. And the bread was incredibly fresh. Although i saw the chef take the onion rings out of the freezer, they were really onions (not ground fake) and very good.
Wife had Tomato basil soup which was good, not exceptional. Could have used some chunks of tomatoes.
Overall this is a worthy place to seek out. Would like to come back for dinner.

Food was great and came out quick. Wife loved the Greek salad. The Nuclear wings were great and actually HOT and well cooked and presentation was nice. The sauce and slaw dog was pretty good, only complaint is that the way the bun was cooked one side was solid (good for a sauce and slaw dog) and other was soft so it absorbed the juices and fell apart. Regardless I do suggest. Great tasting food above what was expected

Had to take a trip to St. Mary’s, WV today and happened to see this little place on google and decided to try it. I’m glad we did! Super cute and small little place but with some awesome food! It also didn’t take too long to actually get our food. Our server was really nice and accommodating. We only live an hour away so we will definitely be making the trip back to eat here!
I got the Cuban panini. Great flavors and can’t put into words how good it was! My kids got a hot dog and Mac and Cheese, I didn’t try it but my husband tried both and said they were good. Also overheard a gentleman say his hot dog was one of the best he’s ever had.

We arrived about a half hour before closing. Food was delicious, didn’t feel rushed, staff was wonderful. Alex Hause Took care of us and did an excellent job. This will be our go to spot when I visit family in St. Mary’s. Can’t wait to try more of your delicious food!

The food is unique but nothing that is too far out. Everything that I’ve had here so far has been well prepared and tasted fantastic. The prices can be high for some items but there’s really good burgers and slaw dogs to enjoy if you’re looking for a quick bite or something budget friendly. I have to say that they make amazing sweet tea as well.
