While staying at the Harbour Cottage Inn, I had the opportunity to dine at their on-site restaurant for dinner one evening. Since it was a pleasant evening, I decided to sit on the patio and take in the crisp, cool air.
I was surprised at how extensive the menu was with a ton of seasonal options and chef recommendations. I started with a wine tasting flight which allowed me to pick any four wines I wanted to sample.
I was hungry, but not starving, so I opted to start with the grilled halloumi toastie, which was essentially a sophisticated open-face grilled cheese. The halloumi was salty and tangy, and paired well with the fresh pesto.
Still hungry after my toastie, I decided to order the fresh seared scallops. These were some of the most mouthwatering and delicious scallops I have ever had in my life.
Everything about this inn and especially the restaurant, the Bowspirit, was incredible. The service was friendly and attentive, warm and welcoming. Even if you are not staying at this accommodation, I would highly, HIGHLY recommend giving the Bowspirit a try.

We loved our drinks and dinner on the patio at this quiet gem in Southwest Harbor. Our cocktails (Bowspritzer and Wavy Dodger) were well-balanced, refreshing, creative, and paired beautifully with the food. We had the flatbread (garlic and oil with red pepper ricotta and sausage) and the caprese salad. The burrata was creamy, the pesto fresh, and the marinated tomatoes juicy and piquant. And for shared plates, the portions are quite generous.

My girlfriend and I ordered a charcuterie board, cocktails, and the potato croquettes and salmon spread. Everything was delicious! The ambience is top notch and the music was classy and romantic. Dora, our server, could not have been more generous or attentive. This place seems like a hidden gem. Cannot recommend it enough!

What a delightful discovery. Food is delicious and carefully prepared. The staff are very good and what is more the portions are human sized, not the usual American frightening heap you should never finish. An amazing discovery, well worth a visit. Lovely wine selection!

Here you will be delighted by the wine and cheese boards but without a doubt the duck wings are a must! Major compliments to the chef and team for an amazing night of food. The atmosphere was intimate and very accessible Dora and her team took the utmost care of us and we couldn’t be happier. This is a true gem that will stand out amongst all the rest. Thank you for everything.

This is the place for your quaint romantic evening for drinks and small plate dining on MDI! The small plates (don’t be fooled by the brief description) as they are far from traditional small plates. Three of us shared four small plates and were more than enough for a meal for each!
The Brussel sprouts were amazing! The Parmesan Panko Fish were perfect lightly breaded and abundant! However, my favorite were the Wagyu Brisket Sliders, I have never had anything better!
We went multiple times and thoroughly enjoyed the specialty drinks and recommended wine selections!!!
Thank you Susan and Andy!
