I’m a regular at The Boiling Crab DC location, but the Richmond location absolutely blew me away! The seafood boil was incredible – so delicious and just as amazing as I remembered. The flavors were on point and the quality was consistently excellent.
What really made this visit special was Des, who seated us and took our order. She was phenomenal! Even though she was clearly swamped helping so many tables, she never missed a beat. She was always prompt, super nice, and somehow stayed ahead of everything. Her energy and attentiveness made the whole experience that much better.
The Richmond location not only matches the quality I love from DC but honestly surpasses it with the service. Des deserves major kudos – she’s a 10/10 and a huge asset to the team. If you’re in the area, definitely check out this location. You won’t be disappointed!

This restaurant is a great option for enjoying seafood with family or friends. It has a wide variety of menu choices and plenty of tables. The service was what I expected, and I really liked the food, especially the catfish. It comes with French fries, and you can choose between Cajun or lemon pepper seasoning. I went with the lemon pepper, and it was delicious—freshly prepared, hot, crispy, and not greasy at all. The only downside is that parking is on the street, so finding an available spot can be a bit tricky.
It has just one unisex bathroom, which is spacious and hygienic. The prices seem fair to me for the portion size and food quality.

Coming from NC, first time here. Server was extremely nice and left us alone to eat but was still very attentive- which we appreciated.
The restaurant itself was very clean and the atmosphere was nice and they were playing some jams.
Now for the food. They are al a carte, which i’m not used to. You have to pay for everything seperate and it’s by the cluster. I had the snow crab, 1 cluster for about 40 bucks. not including a lemonade, a few potatoes, and two corns- cajun not spicy. Taste was ehh; nothing out of this world, i’ve been to better. Boil bag was not steaming as I guess i’ve been used to, some of the crab was still cold and they don’t have crab buckets for the shell.
For two people w similar orders, i was out of about 115 bucks. Would I return, probably not. My order was very basic but I haven’t tried anything else that may or may not have been better.

My boyfriend picked up lunch for us at this location. He got the snow crab leg boil with corn, potatoes and sausage, I got the Sha Bang Bang Shrimp(comes with rice) & an order of their Cajun fries. Both orders were PHENOMENAL, and according to my boyfriend the staff was very helpful and friendly. We definitely will be coming back here. My food is pictured, shrimps were giant and extremely flavorful. The rice was high quality and you could tell they rinsed it and seasoned it with care. The fries were SO tasty and crispy. Cannot say enough about how good this food was.

Classic seafood house vibe with varied, themed menu. Serviceable cocktail and draft menu. Reasonable, savory portions properly prepared. Pleasant and efficient wait staff. Back of house apparently knows their job, as well. Definitely a dining compliment to the RVA food scene.

Amazing renovations, spacious and super clean. Food was outstanding, pricey, but worth it. Our server Jamiya(hope that’s correct), was knowledgeable, helpful and honest. I absolutely loved the atmosphere, great spots for meetups and small parties. I hope it gets some much needed traction. Will definitely be back❤️

Traveling on I-95 we took a break at the Children’s Museum of Richmond with one of our grandchildren. Two hours later, we’re all hungry and very happy to find The Boiling Crab just TWO blocks away. Excellent food, great service, and a nice atmosphere in one of Richmond’s many older and renewed buildings. Stop and enjoy! We plan to return on one of our frequent I-95 RDU/DC/ColumbiaMD trips!

This was such a good experience. The food was great and filling. The manager on duty introduced himself to our table out of courtesy and our waitress Cara was amazing! We devoured all of our food and will be back soon.

When we first walked in we were greeted with a list of all the things they don’t have available. Paper was put on our table. I didn’t realize we were not going to have plates to eat off of. I’ve been to boil places before and when I get a boil everything comes with it. Not here. Everything is a la carte. I debated leaving at this point. …. But my bf made an effort to take me for my birthday. By the time I ordered everything that was close to what I wanted my food alone was over $75 . The food did not all come out at the same time. The shrimp were mushy. And also cost more if you want the heads off. The crab legs were so small, the shell cracker couldn’t crack them. The plastic deveiner bent right in half the minute I tried to use it.
The crabber fries were probably the only thing that was good. My bf got the fried catfish. Dry very very dry.
The music was very loud and the same playlist went thru four times… . No toilet paper in the restroom. Way too casual to be this overpriced. Wasn’t thrilled with the vibe. Will not return.

This restaurant was delicious!! I have tried multiple seafood boil restaurants and this one beats them all!! Their seasoning is not salty at all just very flavorful and juicy. Their food is more pricey but because they have quality seafood and it’s very worth their price!! The snowcrabs, crawfish and mussels were big!!! And the staff was sooo welcoming and sweet!! I will definitely be coming back!!
