The Boiler brings the first complete Steam Kettle Cooking concept to Southern California. We serve a variety of your favorite Southern Flavors. Taste the trinity, okra, fresh seafood and spicy zest in our Cajun and Creole dishes such as Etouffee, Gumbo, Jambalaya, Pan Roast and Bouillabaisse. We cook your entrees individually with unique jacketed steam kettles, as you sit at our counter. Steam Kettle Cooking uses high-pressure steam to heat the cooking kettles. It is an indirect heating method, which prevents our food from over cooking, thus allowing us to make dishes with consistent perfection. Our food comes alive with flavor as we tailor the taste of each entree to your specific liking. Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler!

Gumbo, jambalaya & other Cajun dishes at an expansive, comfortable Southern outpost with a full bar.

We dined in on a Saturday night. There was not a wait time. We were seated immediately. The waitress was very attentive. She brought bread and butter. We both had the cioppino. I had a 6 level spice, which had a nice kick to it. Not overpowering. Our food did not take long to arrive and it was delicious. The seafood was fresh. The atmosphere was casual. We had a great meal in a relaxed atmosphere. The only downside to the area is parking. The shopping center was extremely crowded so we had a difficult time finding parking. There was a shuttle to a fair/pumpkin patch that that took up a huge chunk of spaces that made it even more difficult to find a spot. But the food was definitely worth it.

Stopped by here on a weekday because I’ve been craving Cajun food and I haven’t been here since we moved out of the area. There were a couple of tables occupied and people were trickling in after us for lunch. We sat at the bar counter bc I like watching my food being made in front of me. The house pan roast is usually my go-to, and I had the option to order dinner portion as well. Hubby ordered fish and chips with a blonde ale and he really enjoyed his dish as the fish was fried to perfection – crispy and light *chef’s kiss* There were quite a few leftover crispy crumbs and I pretty much picked his plate clean lol. There was only one server in the FOH and although it was getting pretty busy, she was juggling all the tables efficiently and with grace. It’s a bit of a drive but I would come back again soon.

This is quite the unique spot! Walking in, I immediately noticed the open bar atmosphere with just the perfect amount of dim lighting. It makes you feel like you’re at an 1800s Louisiana jazz bar. You have the option to sit at the food bar where they can cook in front of you or at a table. The service is immediate and pleasant.
Now… the food! I would highly recommend the House Pan Roast at spice level 7!! The flavor is out of this world and it feels like there’s something new to discover with each bite. The sauce is extremely creamy and smooth, and the rice compliments the texture so well. I’ve ordered this twice now and will definitely come back again!

I recently explored this place, and had a delightful experience. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with the unique touch of watching the chef cook right in front of you using steam kettles.

The food was surprisingly good, exceeding my expectations. I initially ordered an IPA, but they were out. However, the waitress offered a double IPA that wasn’t on the menu, which was a pleasant surprise.

I tried the house pan roast, and it was delicious—I devoured every bite. The shrimp scampi was a bit soupier than I expected, as I’m used to a more traditional pasta dish, but it was still enjoyable. The Cajun crab cakes were also quite good.

Overall, my meal was a satisfying culinary adventure. I would definitely recommend giving this place a try!

The Boiler is a must anytime I’m in the Chino area during open days and hours. The house pan is my favorite

Open for lunch Thursday through Sunday and dinner Wednesday through Sunday. Added a photo of detailed business hours below.

Highly recommend you show up as soon as it opens to secure seating, otherwise you can expect long wait times. Still worth it but I imagine it would be torture to show up hungry and deal with the aromatics of the kettles cooking to test your patience

The Boiler is one of the best steam kettle cooking restaurants I have ever been to. If you enjoy cajun/creole seafood, you have to try out The Boiler in Chino Hills. I always take out-of-town visitors here because it’s a unique dining experience that you really can’t find in too many places.

The best dishes to order at the Boiler are:

* House pan roast (lunch price: $17.50; dinner price: $28.00): this is the main dish that everyone comes to The Boiler for. It has shrimp, scallops, crab, and clams in a tomato cream based sauce. It is absolutely delicious. You choose a spice level between 1-10. There are spice levels aren’t that bad at the restaurant – I normally go with a 7, and it’s just enough spice. You can also ask for the scoop of rice on the side if you don’t want it inside of your bowl when it’s served.

* Fisherman’s chowder (lunch price: $17.50; dinner price: $27.50): if you like New England claw chowder, this is the option for you. This chowder has calamari, shrimp, scallops, crab, mussels, and white fish in the creamy chowder sauce.

* Shrimp diablo (lunch price: $16.50; dinner price: $24.00): large prawns in a white wine, garlic butter, olive oil, and spicy tomato sauce served over linguini. Delicious texture that pairs perfectly with the noodles.

* Cajun calamari appetizer ($12.00): I always order the cajun calamari to start. It’s a large appetizer order, good enough for 3-4 people to share. The cocktail sauce with the horseradish that it’s served with is a delicious complement to the calamari sticks.

* Cajun fries ($6.50): When I am extra hungry, I get the cajun fries on the side. I love dipping them into the house pan roast as well.

I’ve tried all of the main entrees on their menu, and can say that the house pan roast, fisherman’s chowder, and shrimp diablo are the best options. I’ve had better jambalaya and gumbo elsewhere, so stick with the options I listed above.

The staff is extremely friendly. Try to get a spot in front of the steam kettles so you can see how the chefs prepare each dish. It’s really fun to observe and ask questions too!

Ordered the house pan roast. It tasted like frozen seafood mixed into canned tomato soup. Hardly any seafood, just mostly soup with a bunch of stale diced vegetables tossed in. Two orders came to nearly $70. Definitely my last visit, not recommended.

This place is comparable to the steam kettle place in Temple City. Despite the they were short staffed. The waitress was super attentive and kept on refilling our drinks. A+++ to her. The only thing I wish they did do is provide more rice. The rice and sauce ratio was off; I had only one ice cream scoop of rice and with plenty of sauce. As for the cioppino entree’s noodle was the right portion. Overall, I would come back.
