We ordered “Chilled Seafood Tray” for $75 and noticed that food is brought faster to those people who rishol after us!

After a concert at the Beacon we stopped in to grab some late night appetizers and check out this place. First it’s very beautiful, even at night you could still kind of get the view of the Appomattox River, I’m sure during the day it’s quite spectacular. They have a good amount of seating outside which is quite perfect for this location. We ended up sitting at the bar since that was the only thing that was open and ordered a few items. The food was good but portion size for the cost I felt was a little off. We got the crab dip and there wasn’t very much in it at all. Taking a scoop with the bread barely covered a third of the piece. We also ordered some asparagus and spinach and again both were really good but for the price I thought you might be able to get a little bit more especially on the spinach. The staff was wonderful they get even more than five stars. They’re great to talk to and took very good care of us. We ended up getting a melted chocolate cookie with some ice cream which again was really good. We’ve been to The Boathouse in Richmond and it seems with speaking with the bartenders that they have a really good happy hour. There’s a gentleman a little bit down from us that was at the concert as well and he actually got a meal which looked really good the crab cake looked like it was mostly crab with very little filler and the shrimp were pretty enormous. It’s a fancy place or at least it wants to Trend that way so I’m sure that’s why the prices are a little bit higher but the atmosphere makes up for it and if you’re looking for a very cool and scenic place to have a dinner this is a good place.

This place has the potential to be amazing. Their new online ordering system is terrible. Spending my time with my family on our phones was annoying. Also, when you pay over $30 for a dish, you really expect top-notch but the flavors did not work and the food was dry. Such a cold experience from our waitress since they barely have to even speak to you because of online ordering. Not at all what we wanted our night out to look like. But their drinks are amazing. I recommend going for the drinks only. Also there was no parking.

It was well worth the drive. The atmosphere was amazing. Boats can actually dock there and people can be serviced. Really nice and upscale. Brian was an awesome waiter and went out of the way to make sure our two birthday people had a delicious desert to celebrate them. Now the food, the popcorn shrimp was very satisfying and they were way bigger than popcorn shrimp from a chain restaurant. The fried oysters with the sauce were amazing with that spicy kick. The jalapeño hush puppies were very disappointing. The batter didn’t have the consistency of hush puppies and there was no fire with the jalapeños. Overall, our table was pleased and we will be making plans to dine there again really soon.

A party of 4 adults and 4 children. Apps took over 30 minutes to come out, part of our dinners started arriving first. They held our dinner. It took over 30 minutes to get it out. Salmon was OK. Carrots were burnt. Kids were frustrated because it took 1 hour for them to get their food. Atmosphere was good. The swordfish was bad. My husband once managed a seafood restaurant so if says it was bad, it was really bad. They defended the date, cook must not have smelled it. They take 20% for staff regardless of party size. No biggie, but she never checked back. Shrimp tacos were last order coming out. One tortilla was burnt the other two not cooked at all. Waitress said she would check back to see if the guest with the rotton swordfish wanted something else, never returned. When the tacos went back it was 30 minutes before they returned. All were done eating. One got nothing to eat and one got their tacos to go. I tried the watermelon margarita which was 100% ice and 2 ounces of beverage. Nice view, for us on this occasion, bad food and bad service. Worth a visit but don’t be in a rush and don’t take the kids.

Delicious food. Friendly customer service. Great view of the Appomattox. My only concern is the flies buzzing around the restaurant.

There were three of us for lunch. We sat inside because it was windy and a little drizzly but we still had great views of the river. Calamari appetizer was delicious, delicate crunchy and sweet. I liked the chipotle sauce that came with it—not too hot. My crab cake was ok, loved that it came with tarter sauce. The homemade Old Bay chips were excellent. Crispy and just the right amount of spice. My friend had the shrimp tacos which I tasted and they were great! My other friend had shrimp and grits which I didn’t try, but there was none left! Service was slow or not around a lot. Be careful, they automatically add the tip at 20%. Seasonal whole Maine lobster was $48.00. Crab cake sandwich was $18.00. I ordered the side of grilled carrots for$8.00 and it had a very yummy dill/cucumber sauce on them that was exquisite. I had leftovers to take home.

This was a special lunch for 3 old high school friends catching up and looking for seafood with a view. What a view! The Appomattox River spills into the James River off the deck.
