Our roots run deep when it comes to Southern cooking, drawing from passed-down recipes scrawled on cards in Southern family kitchens to the modern locavore movement, and relying on South Carolina’s natural fresh abundance. Upon opening in 1997, The Boathouse pioneered a focus on serving diverse and delicious seafood that could be found in nearby rivers, lakes, and oceans.
Vintage rowboats adorn the ceiling of this Southern restaurant with a diverse local seafood menu.

We spent our Valentine’s Day dinner at The Boathouse at Breach Inlet, and the atmosphere was wonderful. It managed to feel both very nice and quiet while remaining warm and welcoming—perfect for a romantic evening.
The service was excellent from start to finish. Our servers were attentive and made the night feel special. Regarding the food:
Flavor: Everything we ordered was extremely delicious.
Value: My only critique of the main course is that the portions seemed a bit small given the price point.
We enjoyed ourselves enough to stay for dessert, but that was where we hit a small snag. We ordered the Red Velvet Cake, and while the cake itself was fine, it was served with a whipped cream-style icing. For a classic Red Velvet, a traditional cream cheese icing or filling is really a must to balance the flavors!
Overall, a beautiful spot with great vibes and tasty food.

We attended the sustainable seafood 6 course dinner in partnership with the SC Aquarium. What a fantastic meal by Chef Robert Drake – who explained every dish and how it was sourced followed by brief explanations from Mara from the aquarium about the importance of sustainable fishing and the local area. Incredible event, meal, staff.

Over the years I have dined at the Boathouse more times than I can count. The Sunset views from the rooftop bar are beautiful, The ambiance of being surrounded by water so peaceful and so “vacation.” While the food has always been delicious, it was different at our last visit.
We had dinner there the evening of September 11 and enjoyed what can only be described as a “dining experience” that we will be talking about from now on. The entire meal was just “over-the-top”. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive.
Our party ordered 4 separate entrees and each was fabulous. And let’s talk about oysters. The Oysters Rockefeller were incredible!!! We ordered 1/2 dozen and then ordered another 1/2 dozen and probably would have ordered ANOTHER if we didn’t have entrees coming. Hands-down, the absolute best ever!!
This restaurant has always been a favorite and continues to be!! They also have Valet parking so you don’t need to worry about finding a place to park. Highly recommend the Boathouse and it should definitely be a dining destination when on in and around IOP, Mt. Pleasant and Charleston !!

I’ve heard great things about this spot from long-time locals, and we had a lovely meal. Aside from our server not being attentive and messing some things up on our order, everything was terrific. We also had a reservation, but still had to wait over 30 minutes for our table. They have a small rooftop where you can get a drink or two before your table is ready. Vallet parking was a nice touch. It is priced on the higher end, but is an excellent spot for anniversaries or special occasions. I cannot say enough good things about their crab cakes. I was also impressed by their blue cheese coleslaw. Overall, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu here!

The food had absolutely no flavor and everything tasted boiled with just salt maybe! It was honestly the worst seafood I have ever had. The scallops honestly tasted the worst! I gagged and I am not a picky eater by no means! Spent $100 and had to leave and go get food somewhere else! We reserved a table and when we got sat it was so crowded we could barely move! It was just two is but the tables were so close together it was uncomfortable!

An amazing honeymoon dinner! We had a seat overlooking the inlet, on a comfortable heated patio. The song my wife walked down the aisle to, came on as we toasted champagne. Every bit of meal was delicious!!!!

Thom was an excellent and took really good care of us. He was super friendly and gave us good recommendations. We loved the hush puppies and the rest of our meal. The location is on the water and they have complimentary valet parking. The atmosphere is nice inside but loud and a little cramped.
