My husband and I were craving a fish fry and just happened upon this place on our way through to Wausau. We were both very pleased to be seated by the window overlooking the lake. The interior is classy, our service was fantastic, the food came fast and delicious! We had calamari and walleye bites appetizers. We both enjoyed the fish fry we were craving.

I don’t know why they have any review below a 5 star. My husband and I had an amazing meal (12oz sirloin) and the Hungarian mushroom soup was absolutely mouth tantalizing! Our server, Kennedy was attentive and friendly. You can’t ask for much more in a dining experience. I would add that we were there on a Thursday night about 8:30.

What a super fun place to hangout and have dinner. The bartender was so nice and what an amazing person. I wish I could remember her name. The food was very good. Plus we ended up having an amazing view of the water ski show.

The Boathouse was a fun lakeside atmosphere. Hardly any time for waiting, and food brought out shortly after ordering.
Our view on the lake was beautiful with live piano music playing in the background.
My only thoughts were pricing that while this is a restaurant with the views, the pricing of the chicken sandwich I don’t see worth $15…
Other than pricing, I would recommend this out to anyone visiting in the area!

We (2 adults) went around 2pm on a busy hot Saturday. We were seated quickly with a view right on the indoor patio. We each ordered water to drink. We had the crab cakes for the appetizer and those were extremely delicious. The price, however, I felt was a bit absurd for them ($17). We both ordered the prime rib sandwich. He got chips on the side and I got sweet potato fries. The fries were a great consistency. But they really lack flavor. Throw some salt on those! I didnt much care for the prime rib. When I told the waitress how I liked my steak done she stated that they don’t do that there as the meat was already pretty thin? Idk how that works but when I bit into it it tasted like old reheated hamburger. My friend enjoyed his sandwich on the other hand and was happy to eat the rest of mine too. In total I gave a $10 tip because the host and our watress were wonderful. I spent a total of $73. I will be back but I’ll definitely be ordering something else.

What a fabulous fish fry we had here! Great staff, beautiful view, fish was crisp and delicious, they do something with their tartar sauce and nice presentation of cheese and crackers while we waited! Dining room looks a little worn- the vinyl on some chairs was ripped, parking here is a little problematic and not handicapped accessible, plus prices are so high for fish fry but they don’t skimp with plenty of sides and the appetizer so at least you walk out full.

We finally were to have lunch at The Boathouse. Every time we’ve attempted to eat there the line has been too long. So, this time we got there at 10:55am, which is 5 minutes before they open and we got seated at a table overlooking Lake Minocqua right away. The view was fantastic and so was the food!
My wife tried the Grilled Shrimp Tacos and loved them. She said they are now officially her favorite meal in Minocqua.
I tried the Cajun Cod Fish Sandwich with fries and coleslaw and loved it too! We both agreed the coleslaw was surprisingly good! The fries were just average , but good enough.
Our daughter had a side of Cheese Curds with ranch dressing and loved them!
And not to be forgotten was the Margarita on the rocks, which my wife ordered and said was the best one she’s ever had!!! I tried it and it was amazing! I think they put a touch of sugar in it because it had a sweet flavor unlike most Margaritas.
So, if you want to avoid the lines, try arriving at The Boathouse 5 minutes before they open and you won’t be disappointed…
I’ve attached pictures of the restaurant and our food for your perusal.

First-time customer. The place has a beautiful view of the lake.
We wentbat lunch time in a Saturday. We did not wait long for our food, but a little longer for drinks and refills. We were a bit shocked that tap drinks were $7. It’s a bit pricey compared to other establishments in the Northwoods.
We were going for my birthday and heard they had good steak. Unfortunately, steak was not on the menu unless you wanted it on a bun. So I went with it. I was not impressed with the texture of slimy fat and soggy bun in the same bite.
My hubby had a chicken sandwich and loved it. He would order it again.
Fries were fresh and tasty.
The decor was nice and the bar was amazing architecture.
Used the bathroom. It was pretty clean.. until you look at the disgusting garbage can. It’s one of those you have to push the lid in to drop your garbage. I just washed my hands!

The view was phenomenal. I had the prime rib sandwich and my husband had the Rueben. Both were excellent! I would definitely come back again!

This was a very good place to eat. The food was very good, the service was excellent, & it had a nice ambiance to the place. The restaurant overlooks the lake which is nice but that is also why I can’t give it 5 stars. If it would have had an outdoor patio it would have been perfect! The weather was 70° & sunny which made it the perfect day to done outside. The bar below which we were told is owned by the same restaurant owners supposedly had an outdoor patio but it was closed so we couldn’t move down there & enjoy the day. With a name like The Boathouse & sitting on the lake I just expected a patio. Everything else was really good about our group’s experience. I would definitely eat here again but only on a day with less than ideal weather.
