Originally a seafood restaurant floating on the water in Winchester Bay, Oregon from 2002-2017 as Unger’s Bay has now been taken out of the water and placed on land and is now known as”The Boat” Fish & Chips serving the great same food as always. We offer indoor and outdoor seating, dog friendly on the covered deck. Beer/wine.

Great place for fish and chips. We had the pacific cod, jalepeno poppers, and strawberry lemonade. Five medium sized fish in a bowl full of fries. Menu has many great options to choose from and staff were very warm and welcoming. The gummy worm “bait” with the check was a fun touch!

Just got home after having a delicious meal at The Boat. My husband ordered their fish sandwich and I had the cod and fries. The fish was incredibly fresh for both our meals. Although the fish was deep fried, it was not greasy at all. The staff there is friendly and service was great. Luckily, we’re locals so we can enjoy another meal there soon.

Great food and super service. We had fish and chips with coleslaw and clam stripe as well as a crab Louie salad. All of which were really good. Our waitress was super friendly and full of energy. I think her name was Darla. She made the visit a lot of fun. Definitely recommend!

I’ll start with the good but then continue to read so you can actually get a better feel for my review and hear the bad and negative side of things. The main good thing is the design of this place. It’s very unique and you probably won’t find another place like it. It’s actually three different buildings on an elevated platform. One is the main kind of kitchen area with only three small tables on the inside. They then also have a larger outdoor seating area and in the back I think they have a bar area as well. That’s it. That’s the only good thing I have to say about this place. The rest is my actual review.
Everything about this restaurant was very mediocre from the setup to the actual design and layout to the quality of food and sadly to the service. I can tell you right now this is a place that I would not recommend going to and if I’m in the area again, I will probably not revisit. Not because everything was terrible but just simply because the price to quality was not there for me and my family. While the food was decent, it was all, to be honest, very bland and highly overpriced. There were two adults and and two children under 2 years old, one of which is not even eating solids. For one simple chicken tender and a basket of fries. It was essentially $10. For the fish and chips it was $18. That’s the standard price compared to most fish and chip places. But to be honest the fish here was completely plain. It literally tasted like nothing. It was just deep fried meat with no taste or flavor. My wife ordered a fish sandwich which she said she enjoyed; but again I’m not sure if that was because she was starving or because the fish sandwich was truly that good.
Portions definitely do not seem to be adequate for the pricing. I ordered a five piece fish and chips basket and the pieces that I received were small, and like I said, had no taste, and really just broke apart as soon as I picked them up. To be honest that was very disappointed and in reality I would rather just go to a grocery store and buy some frozen fish pieces and some french fries and have heated it up in the oven.
The service here was very mediocre. The staff I guess was friendly but to be honest not really that attentive either. They were understaffed and overworked. Our server did seem friendly but they only came and checked on is once and didn’t even offer me a refill on my strawberry lemonade that says that it comes with a refill. Like I said, the price to quality ratio was not really here at this restaurant and I will not be returning again. But maybe I had a one off situation and this place really is great, I hope that’s the case as I don’t want to see a good place suffer.

The atmosphere is casual and boat themed with a museum next door. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The waitress was very nice and quick. The clam chowder was great and the fried steak bites were tasty. I wish they were served with gravy
The coleslaw was perfect, not too wet.
Overall a nice place to get fish and chips as well as some other items. There is something for everyone.

We enjoyed the atmosphere even on a relatively cold day outside. We liked the pet friendly atmosphere even though it was outside which is understandable. The waitress was very friendly and attentive although they were not busy on this day.
The fish n chips portion to pricing was not at all what I expected. It was more like a couple chips of fish and a small amount of fries. Potatoes are cheap. The 4 pieces of fish together is what I would expect for one piece of fish at other places.
That’s a one n done for us.

This clam chowder wasn’t real and it’s didn’t taste anything like clam or chowder. I wasn’t impressed with it at all. Wasn’t worth coming here. It’s taste wayyy to much flower.

We had the Cod fish and chips, Clam chowder, and Clam strips. The Cod was the smallest pieces I have ever seen at a resturant. They were also very greasy. The clamstrips were good well cooked. The chips are just crappy bagged fries also very greasy. The Clam chowder is good. I was warned by some locals that it was not a great place. My experience backs that up. Good luck to you if you choose to eat there, I hope you fare better than we did.
