Located in a beautiful historic home, this locally owned gem serves up everything from premium steaks to the best Southern fried chicken in town. Whether you’re cozying up by the fireplace or enjoying a cocktail on the garden patio, it’s the ultimate spot for a relaxed yet refined dinner.
Support local and treat yourself to a true Kentucky classic.
Huge shoutout to our server Carlo—he was absolutely awesome. Friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about making sure everyone has a great time.
The meal? Flawless. We started with the baked brie, which was creamy, rich, and just decadent enough to make you feel fancy without trying too hard. The oysters—sourced from the West Coast (excellent call by the owner)—were briny, fresh, and beautifully plated.
Then came the porterhouse steak. Perfectly cooked, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and served with reverence. The kitchen gets it.
And let’s talk dessert: I’m not usually a carrot cake person, but this one? Just what the doctor ordered. Moist, spiced just right, and a perfect ending to a perfect meal. The cheesecake was also a hit—not overly sweet, but silky and balanced.
This is definitely the kind of place you come back to. Whether it’s a special celebration or just a random Tuesday in need of magic, Blue Heron nails it every time.
One standout dish that sets the tone for the culinary journey is the Grilled Brie appetizer. This perfectly executed starter marries creamy, melted Brie with a delightful crunch from toasted walnuts, all elevated by the rich sweetness of an excellent fig jam. The balance of flavors is impeccable—each bite offers a harmonious interplay of texture and taste that leaves you eager for the next course.
The main attraction, however, is the extraordinary filet. Cooked to absolute perfection, this tender, flavorful cut of beef is a true testament to the chef’s skill. Accompanying sides are thoughtfully prepared to complement the steak without overwhelming it, striking a delightful balance that enhances the overall dining experience. Every bite feels like a masterclass in flavor coordination.
Adding to the experience is the service, which is attentive yet never intrusive. The staff strikes the perfect balance, ensuring your needs are met with a smile while allowing you to enjoy the meal and company at your leisure.
The Blue Heron Steakhouse is more than a meal—it’s an experience that lingers in your memory long after the last bite. With its exceptional food, intimate ambiance, and top-tier service, this gem is a must-visit for anyone seeking a truly elevated dining experience.
David was our server and he was perfect. Relaxed, chill, but was always checking in to see what we needed.
David suggested that we, as non-natives, take a stroll up to the bar and discuss which local whiskey we might prefer with the expert, the bartender.
I got the Green River Rye. Had great flavor. Jeanne got the Four Roses.
The Baked Brie was a great starter. We recommend it.
Jeanne got the Tender Loin and I got the RibEye. The crust was perfect, seasoned with fantastic flavor, juicy and melted like butter.
Will recommend to anyone at the Horse Park who is undecided where to eat.
I don’t even like apple pie but helped Jeanne polish it off. It was really good. Warm with the ice cream and a crust cinnamonie and a hint of saltie here and there. Damn good pie.
