Service is great! Very attentive and timely. We ordered the roasted cauliflower that came with a light creamy sauce (marinara based maybe) and then the special which was a colorful, fall-festive spiral pasta with sausage and fennel – large serving so no skimping on quantity… might even be worth sharing. Interesting dish and I enjoyed it but the flavors were a bit bland. To round things off we had the chocolate lava cake, also good (it is chocolate afterall) but nothing special. Feels like a bar trying to become a restaurant so definitely give them a chance as there might be more worthy options on the menu and improvements. Space is nice and great for a date night especially if you’re walkable. For the nicer months they have a cute outdoor seating area of take advantage of, but know it’s on the sidewalk. Staff was fantastic and very friendly; this spot certainly has potential for more. Bill came to $122 for 2 of us, before tip ($40 of that would’ve been wine/beer) so at that price point, overall quality could stand to be fine tuned.

Lovely place! Quaint and cozy vibes with delicious food. Good portions especially with their pasta and risotto. Their burger and chicken sandwich were well cooked. Recommend ahi tuna, burrata and Brussel sprout appetizers. Chocolate lava cake satisfying the chocolate craving for sure, but nothing mind shattering. Parking lot across the street with ample parking. They had a pretty good happy hour from 4-6pm as well!

What a bummer. I’ve been coming to this place for a lot of years, and I used to hold their food in very high regard.
I would tell people that this was Ballard’s best kept secret. Over the last few years the food quality has gone down, and the service has suffered too. Every time I’ve visited it’s a different staff, and they always seem to be new and uninterested in being there. I don’t know what the management/ownership is doing to achieve such a high turnover rate. The last time I went I ordered $65 worth of food for myself and it was all pretty much terrible. The only thing that was actually good was the fried chicken. I asked the wait staff if the fried chicken was pressure cooked (because I was trying trying to be supportive and it was the only thing that was any good) and she went back to the kitchen and I could hear them making fun of me for asking such a question. This was not an isolated incident. The steak used to be great and now it’s overpriced and terrible. The short ribs used to be off-the-charts but now they’re dry. The chicken sandwich is not as good as The Tin Hat’s down the street. What a disappointment. Hopefully the Blue Glass will figure out how to make good food again or step aside and let someone who cares take over that space.

First, left me say that everything was seasoned well and the service was good. However, would I come back? Absolutely not! Really disappointed, even with a second chance to get our semi- good…
We ordered the short ribs and the steak. The shortrib meal came out cold- Cold and chunky polenta (huge lumps), cold sauce and undercooked green beans. It was bad to the point that I had to sent it back. They remade it and it was 20% better- still barely warm but semi better. We also ordered the steak, medium. Part of the steak was somewhat medium, the other half was pretty much raw- sitting ther nawing on the u cooked cartilage and fat. Same undercooked green beans. Potatoes were good because they were deep fried. Beer was flat and warm. Wine was good. REALLY REALLY REALLY disappointed. We went here for a special date night away from the kids and were boyond disappointed. Waste of money.

The Blue Glass is an American style restaurant in the Ballard/Greenwood neighborhood right around the corner from Goodwill. Parking around here is usually ok but you might need to walk a block or two on weeknights or weekends. They have seating outside and a little over a dozen tables inside plus a bar. Their menu is a good size, with things like seafood, steak and sandwiches. Pricing is a bit high but portions and taste are great – the ribeye is 100% worth it and the best thing on the menu at 16oz. The staff here are great, very friendly and funny with great recommendations on drinks and food. They get busy for dinner so making a reservation is recommended. This is a great place to have dinner with friends or on a date as it’s very intimate. Definitely a good spot on weeknights when they’re not as busy.

Unfortunately this was the worst food I’ve ever had in a restaurant. We went for Valentine’s Day so they had a set menu. The risotto was $42 and was basically flavorless rice with peas and squash. The prime rib was mostly fat and the mashed potatoes were again flavorless. They truly tasted like they were seasoned with only butter and water. Our food was cold to the touch when it came out, and it came out two minutes into eating our appetizer, so it felt like they just had been sitting in the back for a while. The Brussel sprouts were delicious though. And all the servers were super nice so I felt awful complaining about anything, but for over $200 this was very disappointing.

Where do I begin. The staff was super nice and greeted us as we came in. Our waitress gave us some food good recommendations.
Two of us shared the mussels, prime rib with smashed potatoes and butternut squash, and a half Green and Grains salad.
The mussels were probably some of the best I have ever had. Served in a tomato soup type sauce with baked bread. To die for. The steak was cooked perfectly, and it was huge, and came with yummy garlic butter on top. The smashed potatoes were amazing. Crispy on the outside and soft inside. The salad was yummy and had just the right amount of everything. We were totally stuffed and glad we shared the entree.
Definitely going back!

We had high hopes for a special Valentine’s Day dinner at Blue Glass, but the experience fell flat on almost every level.
The special menu was underwhelming: only 3 appetizers, 3 entrees, and 1 dessert, with a cocktail menu that was a shadow of their usual offerings.
The crab fritters ($28) were mostly breading with very little crab, not worth the price. For our entree, we ordered the prime rib, which arrived extremely rare, red throughout with pooling liquid and large chunks of fat. It was unappetizing enough that my wife couldn’t eat it and we had to send it back. We swapped for the risotto, which was bland and felt like an afterthought.
Service was inattentive, our drinks sat empty for an extended period with no offer of refills, and by the time anyone checked on us, we were ready to leave.
For a Valentine’s Day special menu at these prices, this was a significant miss. We won’t be returning.

The kitchen refused to sell us sides or accommodate the restriction. My partner had to order a $50 salmon entree just to eat the side of couscous. Even with a small discount, we were charged $40 for a side dish. To make matters worse, the service was inattentive; we were never offered drink refills or asked how the food was, despite the restaurant not being busy.
Total lack of flexibility and poor value. We won’t be back.
