A few days ago my family and I ate at this quaint little restaurant.

Absolutely loved this place! Nice indoor and outdoor seating. Serve yourself coffee, which I appreciate. Our meals were delicious and we purchased cookies for later. My husband had the Snickerdoodle and I had the peanut butter. Divine! Best choices in their bakery case I have seen in Tennessee. Incredible place.

What an adorable, quaint cafe. We had breakfast one morning and went back for lunch the following day. The services was friendly and welcoming, the food was delicious and had nice atmpsohere whether you sat inside or the outside patio. Will definitely be back!!

Cute little local place with a hometown vibe. Food and Baked goods were good. We had wings and a patty melt for lunch then a caramel cinnamon bun for dessert that was very good.

We stopped in after a friend recommended to us who went to college at Sewanee. We had battered chicken tenders with battered fries, fish and chips, a Bearwalker brew, and iced tea. Food was cooked fresh and plenty. Seating is tight and cozy. We enjoyed the large TV to watch the ballgame. Before leaving, I walked into the adjacent bakery (same building) and grabbed some to-go treats. I absolutely recommend the salted brown butter rice krispie treat.

The people and atmosphere were very nice and relaxed.. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. The pretzel bites were saturated in butter or grease, asked for no onions on the patty melt, but got chopped up onions on it, and the sweet potato fries came out cold and very greasy. On the positive, my grilled chicken fingers were very good. Perfectly cooked!

Let’s start w/Brooklyn N attitude. It’s was the worst I’ve see in a long time. You don’t just tell a customer, here, sign this(the receipt)w/out using please or thank you. She walked by us at least 7 times and didn’t even stop to see if we needed anything or to find out if the food was good. The owner, an older gentleman did the same thing exact thing as well. While the food was okay, nothing spectacular, I’m pretty sure the bed of lettuce they put my burger on was from a salad as it had salad dressing on it. Overall, we see no reason to come back or even recommend it to others. Also, pretty sure a waitress was outside laying down on one of the picnic tables. Overall, you have what appears to be several other places in this area to give your money to. I’d check them out before coming here!

Highly disappointed in our experience. We came in early afternoon for lunch and sat in the cafe. We noticed immediately that the place had a lot of character and had a very comfortable feel. The waitress took our drink order and food order quickly and that was the end of the good service. My husband ordered the Nashville hot chicken and I ordered the catfish. I opted for the catfish on a croissant and the menu stated that it came with slaw and the option of tarter sauce or marmalade. I requested tarter sauce. My husband’s plate was delivered to him fairly quickly and I didn’t get my food until at least ten minutes later. It sat in the kitchen window for minutes prior to her bringing it to our table. When the waitress brought my plate out we immediately noticed that my catfish was covered in marmalade and there was no tarter sauce to be found. She said she would be right back with tarter sauce – without me commenting or asking for it, which tells me she knew my order was incorrect. I did not send it back because I was very hungry and did not want to wait for a new plate. While the catfish was cooked perfectly, it was not seasoned and neither was the tiny scoop of cole slaw that was on the sandwich. I did not enjoy the marmalade on my catfish (I know this is a taste preference), it just didn’t work for me. The waitress never came back with my tarter sauce and only came back to leave the check after we finished eating. While I realize it was a little busy, the customer service could have been far better. The waitress was busy having personal conversations with other staff members. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this cafe to dine in. As a side note, I was so irritated once I received my plate that I forgot to snap a picture before eating.

We stopped in after a long weekend camping. Came in still wet from the rain, and boy oh boy, was this breakfast the most perfect thing.

My daughter lives in Sewanee and we always enjoy our food at the Tavern. Jimmy and his staff are friendly. It is a very laid back atmosphere. I would highly recommend stopping in for one of their Jackalope beers and eating one of their delicious burgers. You will not be disappointed.
