If you want the most flavorful food that will keep you thinking about it for days and days then go to Block Bistro! My boyfriend and I went for date night and we’ve been back 3 times! I also recommended to friends and they went before a pacers game and loved the wings and vibes at the bar! The owner knows what he’s doing!

Visiting from out of town and glad I came here, these damn wings are the best I’ve had in a verrrrry long time. These wings are like a memory from my past, family reunion, uncle on the grill type- but better. Mastered. Y’all are lucky to have them, I need these where I live.

A coworker and I went to give it a try for lunch. Fried basket (chicken tenders) wasn’t bad but the portion way too small for the price we had to buy a side salad to complete our lunch and bellies!

Fries barely had flavor.

Me and my brother saw them on the great food to up race and went downtown to give it a try. We had 20 boomerang wings, they were pretty good although, a lil bit overpriced. At least they’re WHOLE wings. The wait time was fair, considering they are made to order & the process it takes to make them. I was given barbecue instead of Buffalo on one of my 4 flavors, but I just asked for it on the side, dipped the bbq and I was good. Litty, the server, was pretty cool also. (You could’ve gave me the sparkling water! ) We will definitely be back to try other items phone to menu. Thank again, Litty!

Shouldn’t be in business it was so bad.

Edit-Owner asked for details.

1) Hostess was openly vaping in the place
2) Pizza appetizer was like a microwave pizza
3) Western Burger was served cold. Fries cold. Hostess/Waitres asked how I wanted burger. I said medium i got a fully cooked but cold burger.
4) Friends fish and chips were so bad she wouldnt finish it, said the tartar sauce was inedible. She immediately went outside to smoke a cigarette she said it tasted better than the food.

Aaaaaand I thought the chairs were uncomfortable.

Look I dont like giving bad reviews. But this place had zero effort put into a positive service, positive food, positive vibe.

The food and the service were excellent here. I highly recommend eating at this restaurant whether you live here or are just visiting. The menu options are perfect, they have healthy options and not so healthy options. Thank you!!

We were really looking forward to visiting the Elf Bar pop-up at The Block Bistro & Bar and expected a festive, Instagram-worthy experience since this was a ticketed event. Unfortunately, it was a complete mess from start to finish.

We were in the first group to arrive, and the space was already awkwardly laid out…tables crammed too close together, poor flow, and not very photogenic despite the Christmas decor. While it was decorated, it wasn’t set up in a way that made sense for photos or social media.

Booking was also frustrating. The website did not show photos of any add-on items (mugs, stockings, etc.), yet guests are expected to purchase them blindly in advance. You also cannot add anything once you arrive, which makes no sense.

We chose a family-friendly time slot expecting a casual lunch-date vibe. Instead, the experience felt like forced, chaotic kids’ entertainment. Children’s games were already covering the tables when we arrived, there were no food menus, only drink menus, and as someone who does not drink alcohol, that was not ideal.

The event felt severely understaffed and disorganized. No one seemed to be in charge. Service was painfully slow. Drink orders were taken first, then multiple children’s games occurred, and our food order wasn’t taken until near the end of the event. We arrived before 1:00 PM, and our food didn’t come out until 2:01 PM, even though our tickets stated we needed to be out by 2:15 PM.

Meanwhile, a line for the next time slot was already forming while the entire room was just receiving their food. I felt terrible for the chef, who clearly received the entire room’s lunch order at the same time. The food itself was disappointing too – greasy, overcooked sandwiches and fries so hard they were more like chips.

The final straw was the restroom. There was only one working bathroom, with no toilet paper during an event, water left running, visible damage to the door, and a bulging ceiling tile in the hallway that appeared to be water damage. The restaurant looked dirty and poorly maintained. I asked a waitress for help with toilet paper and watched her prioritize filling condiment cups instead while a line formed behind me. I eventually gave up and left. We ended up going next door to Jack’s Donuts just to use a clean restroom with toilet paper, along with several other patrons from the bar. Someone even joked, “I guess the party is over here now.”

This was an overpriced, poorly executed, and frustrating experience. The Elf Bar concept might work in a larger, well-run venue, but this location is far too small, understaffed, and disorganized to pull it off. I’ve since seen other attendees post similar reviews, so this was clearly not an isolated experience. We will absolutely never return to this restaurant or this event.

ADDED RESPONSE AFTER VIEWING THE OWNER’S RESPONSE –
I appreciate the reply. I’ve already shared detailed feedback directly with the event organizers. While I understand you were the host venue, many of the issues experienced were operational and facility-related. I hope there’s accountability taken for future hosted events.

Oookay!!! So after seeing the owner on Indy Now I decided to go and support the business. Man…I’m glad I did. The owner is hilarious and awesome to be around. He served us and the experience was top notch. The food was outstanding. We tried a couple of different things on the menu. So if you’re downtown and looking for a great place to eat definitely give this place a try.

Went to a pop up Elf event and was disappointed to say the least. The place itself is run down and dirty. Only had 1 working bathroom and water was running the whole time in sink. Waitress was nice however overwhelmed due to not enough staff. Wanted a drink after the event was told we could if we chugged it and bartender was rude. Would not attend or go there again. We were there 12/19/25
