We had only been to Blackwater Cafe once over the past several years and when the restaurant we went to was surprisingly closed, we pivoted. And we are glad.
We were seated right away (it’s after Labor Day) and our server, Dale, was right over to take our drink orders. As she brought those, we were ready to order.
Entrees were Prime Rib sandwich, Pasta Bolognese, Chicken Alfredo and Chicken & Waffles. Everyone commented about how good everything was. It was so good we were even tempted by the desserts, which is rare for us.
For example, the cayenne maple syrup was so good with the Chicken & Waffles- better than hot honey, especially on the sweet potato Waffles.
We say on the bar side. More relaxed than the dining room and you can catch sports.
I know we will go more frequently.

Absolutely fantastic! I got the chicken and waffles and it was probably the best I’ve ever had, and it’ll take something extremely special to top this one. Loved the cayanne syrup. Mom had the pulled pork, and said it was really good (but debatable on whether or not it was worth $20) I recommend the place nonetheless.

What a delightful evening over the summer! I am not sure why it had taken us so long to try this place out. The Sunday $4 Martinis and 1/2 Price Apps (Truffle fries!) specials were awesome. And, the rest of our food was just as great – Pork chop and Shrimp & Grits entrees, Key lime cheesecake dessert. The service was also top notch, which is so rare to find these days since Covid. Thank you for a wonderful meal. This is honestly the best meal we have enjoyed at the lake to-date. Looking forward to returning again soon!

We sat at the bar for our dinner. Monica was our bartender/server and she is wonderful. Food was excellent I had the Mahi Mahi and my husband had the salmon. While the salmon portion was a little small, it was cooked perfectly and tasty. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The Caesar salad is also very tasty. Highly recommend this local gem.

The bread was pretty good. The shrimp were greasy, the prime rib was tough and fatty, but it did have good flavor. The baked potatoes’ skins were burnt and could have been cooked a week ago. The grill room was SOOOO LOUD
that we couldn’t begin to carry on a conversation. We asked to be moved to the dining room and that request was denied. The restaurant is very expensive and CERTAINLY not worth it! The waitress was not attentive and was BUSY with her friends at the bar.
We will CERTAINLY never go there again!!!

Finally came in for dinner after having amazing take out. Our waitress, Jordan was amazingly friendly and knowledgeable! The food was to die for, I have never had a pork chop so flavorful and juicy! And you HAVE to get the crab fries and desserts with HOMEMADE whipped cream! We will be back

I don’t know why it has taken us so long to try this place. The food was delicious! I had the salmon with couscous and green beans. The salmon was perfectly cooked. My daughter had the chicken with sweet potato waffles, and it came with a spicy maple syrup. Chefs kiss amazing!

Been here many times, it constantly gets worse, so they are consistent for something. Tonight Blackwater was not our first choice, but after stopping by Napoli Cowboy, which was packed at 4:45 with no seats at all, we decided to go to Blackwater. There is definitely a reason there is no problem getting a seat here. The food is way over priced for what it is. We were there less than an hour after opening and there was only 3 of the “special, chicken cordon bleu penne” left. Which is dumb-dumb speak that means, we are trying to get rid of this “special” we have had at least last night, if not longer. This is not the first time this has happened! There is a reason the “prime rib special” on Thursday is a “prime rib sandwich special”on Tuesday, thats how they get rid of the 5 day old prime rib, just disguise it as a “special”.
