First time here, didn’t know what to expect. Called ahead for a reservation for a VD dinner. Walked into the place and is a nice sized, retro decor bar with a small dining room separate from the bar but not completely closed off. The dining area had no host, so I didn’t know where to check on for the reservation. We went to the bar, ordered a couple drinks and told the bartender of the reservation. He went and notified the dining room waitress of our attendance.
We waited at the entrance to the dining room, which was full. Had a nice chat with 2 ladies also waiting. They informed us that this place is owned by those at the Black Angus. That was comforting and made me really look forward to the forthcoming dinner. We were seated at the next available table.
The menu is simple, but had plenty to choose from. I ordered the ribeye with baked potato and salad. My date had the shaved prime rib sandwich. There is no salad bar, no dinner roll and no relish tray which was disappointing. Both meals were prepared well and satisfactory. However I had high hopes of a Black Angus quality & cut ribeye based on the ownership, this it was not. Overall the meal was OK, but missing extras and the wow factor.
Service was good, drinks were good. $4 beers and $6.50 Old Fashioneds. I’ll more than likely try again.

Portion sizes are average but the prices are a bit above. Food quality seems to have suffered a bit lately especially presentation. The wings are good but a re order when you order all you can eat is 4. Took 15 minutes to get the next 4 and so on. First order was 6 and they are small.
The server staff has been changing regularly and its clear some are there for the hourly wage not the service. A lot of bar traffic goes through the dining room to that restroom. Especially when it’s an event nite so expect foot traffic. We used to go there once a week. Now once a month or less.

Big changes from our last visit. Stephanie was our hostess and server. She did a fantastic job making us feel welcome and was patient with getting the food orders from the kids and explaining the options. Portion sizes were fitting to the price and Stephanie made sure we had reorders on all you can eat wings as we needed them and there was almost no wait. She definitely made the visit a success. We will be back next week.

My band, Long Gone Henry, played here a few nights ago and it was an absolute blast. Delicious food, great selection of drinks, friendly staff and patrons and I love the location. Big shout to Mason, Steve, Gorman (?) and the whole crew there and thank you for hosting live music!

There was absolutely nothing wrong that would make me take a star away. The staff was appropriately surly but in a Wisconsin friendly way. The kitchen was equally slow for everyone.
The burger was delicious and the extra cost for the fries was worth it. It has a fantastic dive bar feel and vibe.
They dont take cards but have an atm there that charges $3. It was exactly what We wanted.

Nice down home place in downtown Prairie du Chien, WI. Love you can get bluegills on the menu. Check out the bar on the other side of the dining area, it’s a great place for a pre or post dinner drink!

I haven’t walked out of a bar in years but the service from the young bartender that refused to take a food order at the bar when were several people around us eating was enough to make us walk out. We waited for her to circle past us 3 times while each time she stopped to talk to her friends and then because we had to flag her down she was annoyed and was kicking the door shut on the cooler was enough to spend our money at one of the other FRIENDLY bars in Prairie.

Read the reviews about their famous blue gill. Not impressed. It was overcooked and hard as a rock. The light breaded cod was ok. Beer battered cod was also overcooked and salty.Waitress was very slow and we were her only table for half our time there. Had to ask for silverware and water and fish she forgot. And didn’t know it was cash or check only until we walked into the place. Hate to be so negative. Hope you have better luck than we did!

The Best onion rings We ever had. Husband had Bluegill, it was vary good. I had the Chicken blt salad, very good. Waitress was awsome. Look forward to trying something else next time.

Had been wanting to try this place for a while finally did tonight. Had a terrible experience they were busy they had one table that was very large and it must have thrown the whole place out of kilter. Did the all you can eat fish and after eating my initial serving I asked for one more piece of cod and a few pieces of catfish and waited about 45 minutes to get it. First they finally brought out one piece of cod alone and after eating that and waiting more i asked for the bill which i finally got served with the catfish at the same time as the bill. By this point we had been there about 1hr 45 min so all I wanted was the bill and to get the hell out of there didn’t care about any more fish it wasn’t that special anyway. Of course waited a bit more and they never came back for the bill so i took it to them and couldn’t get out of there fast enough.The only reason I gave it a three stars because this place does bring in some good live music which i appreciate that but 1 star for food and service which I won’t ever go back for.
