The Black Stallion, located on Route 5 in Vernon New York, was established in 1972 by Gino and Maria Vullo. Gino and Maria’s love for their native Italian cuisine and their ability to make all who dined with them feel special and welcome, is the reason that the restaurant is still successful today. In 1986 the Vullo’s only son Sal took over as the sole proprietor. Sal runs the restaurant in the same fashion as his parents, combining his Italian heritage and his American upbringing. The Black Stallion is one of the oldest family owned and operated restaurants in the area.

Start with the food, because this is why you go out. Everything at the table was awesome, all the way down to the bread which was just the right amount of buttery, hot and soft. All the meals at the table were excellent, chicken parm, filet, shrimp, chicken Rocco & greens and the portion sizes are huge. The only downside was the atmosphere, it was loud. In the front room, the conversations of other tables & the bar made it hard to have a conversation. I’d definitely go back because the food was excellent, but I’d like to go on a weekday or maybe sit in the back room.

We had dinner at The Black Stallion before an event at Turning Stone. Only a ten minute drive, the location was convenient. We were all pleased with our meals; fresh ingredients, good portions, and nice presentation. Service was friendly and fairly efficient for a busy weeknight. Gluten free options were available for one person in our group. I will definitely return!

The French Onion soup was amazing with its own unique twist! We both got the sirloin steak with mashed potatoes and it was so good! The bread and salad were enjoyable as well. Friendly and attentive service! Price is reasonable when you consider the amount of food received!

We had the best experience for my daughters 40th Birthday, first time there and definitely not the last!! They went above and beyond our expectations! From the time we walked in the door everyone was very friendly and personable! Kudos to our server , manager and everyone involved! Would highly recommend ❤️

We ordered a calamari appetizer and while the portion was enormous the calamari was basically tasteless and rubbery.
I ordered chicken riggies for my entree and again the portion was enormous however I prefer cherry peppers with a hint if vinegar and they used a long hot pepper
My wife ordered the haddock asiago. The spices on the fish were tasty but the haddock had a slightly fishy taste.
We had a great waitress.
Meal was somewhat pricey but all in all I ‘d give this place another chance.

Black Stallion is our go to place. Always consistent with food very nice wait staff. Bartender knows her stuff she is excellent. Sal and his family have kept the tradition of dining at The Black Stallion their top priority.

Got the calamari which had huge pieces but it was very chewy marinara was good. Got the special, a roast beef meal meat was good but gravy and mashed potatoes were extremely salty. Wife got chicken Parm she said it was decent. Service was excellent.

Our waitress this go around was absolutely the best!!! She was friendly and interactive (I wish I was better with names!) We got the chicken Milano to share!! It’s such a beautiful combo of chicken and seafood stuffing!!!

Excellent food, great service, timely delivery of courses, no long waits between apps,salads, entree’s. For dessert I had to get the infamous snickers ice cream pie, WOW! For weekends reservations are a must!
