We’re the ultimate fried chicken sandwich shop, now with 2 locations in San Francisco and sold at 5 Super Duper Burgers in the Bay in a super indulgent collab with our favorite burger joint. #CluckYeah Our chicken is always free-range. We use dark thigh meat. Thigh meat makes for the juiciest, most tender piece of fried chicken. We use a berbere spice blend to give the chicken that little something special. Our fried chicken is served on a fresh bun, baked each morning just for us by a local baker in Richmond, CA. Our sandwich is loaded with our own crunchy apple slaw (made fresh in house daily). It wasn’t exactly our intention, but the super-secret mix of flour we use for our breading happens to be gluten free.

Yesss this burger is sooo good The patty is juicy, perfectly seasoned, and you can actually taste that flame-grilled flavor. The buns are soft but toasted just right, and everything inside just works together. The fire on it?? 10/10. Definitely one of the best burgers I’ve had here. I’m coming back for this for sure. ✨

Lots of seats and tables spread throughout, menu isnt overloaded and simple enough. Burgers are good. Sides were decent. Sports bar on a side, a more chill side on another spot, isnt too overly expensive and employees and the service were all relative great. Overall if youre looking for a nice burger to eat while on a quick lunch or while watching a game etc., well this place is nice to consider going to.

I’ve been curious about The Bird in Hayes Valley for a while, so I finally stopped by during their weekday happy hour yesterday. The restaurant has a fun, casual vibe with some great wall art I loved the playful dog mural that gives the place real character. I ordered the Grilled Chicken lettuce wrap with a side of fries for takeout. The food itself was quite good, the chicken was well-seasoned and the lettuce wraps were fresh and satisfying. The fries were crispy and had that perfect golden color you want. My main issue was with the wait time. The restaurant wasn’t particularly busy when I arrived, maybe half full, so I was surprised when my to-go order took over 23 minutes. I understand kitchens can get backed up, but for what seemed like a straightforward order, it felt longer than necessary. The staff was polite enough, though they could have communicated better about the delay. The atmosphere is definitely a plus it’s got that neighborhood hangout feel that Hayes Valley does so well. I can see this being a great spot for a casual dinner or drinks with friends. The menu looked diverse with some interesting options I’d like to try next time. Despite the service hiccup, I’d probably give The Bird another shot. The food quality was there, and everyone deserves a chance to improve on timing. It’s clear they care about the food they just need to tighten up the execution on busy days.

Twice in two weeks my order did not come.out correctly. First a grilled cheese add bacon arrived with no bacon. Now, a burger customized on the ordering screen arrived with a measley swipe of aoli and when editing off tipping other than onion the burger arrived with no onion. Not only is this the kitchen fault, but the food runner’s too. Check orders before sending them out. I don’t need to come.back or refer people aftwr these experiences. Sad.

This review is only about the chicken sandwich. It’s very good. [My rating system is 1-star for fast food chicken sandwich with stale bun, overcooked flavorless chicken. 5-star is TBD.] The Bird had the most moist dark-meat chicken I have had in a chicken sandwich. Really good. The Bun was very good: 4-stars. Nice doughy texture on the inside, nicely toasted. The slaw was flavorful and worked well with the chicken. I’m not a big fan of the breading of the chicken. I’m sure some love it, but it is too dense for my liking.

It was my first time here, and I’d heard great things about this place. There were only a few of us, and ironically, I had to point out what was missing from our order—which really shouldn’t happen on a slow day. Everything else was fine except for two of our orders, but the manager asked us to reorder them just to double-check in the system, almost as if to make sure I wasn’t making it up.

So here’s the deal…This place has gone downhill since 2021 and it is sad. The service is great and the do a really good job of getting the food out in a timely manner. However, the food is not good. The fried chicken sandwich is supposed to be the best (and it used to be), but the chicken was really undercooked and the breading was just awful. This food really questioned my affinity for chicken sandwiches in general. Also, their fries are about as mid as Drake. Lastly, the inside could use an update.
