Big Zen is an underrated gem of a Chinese restaurant! The entrees—hot garlic shrimp, ginger beef, and Zen special chicken—were absolutely delicious. The egg fried rice and noodles were flavorful and perfectly cooked. The customer service was outstanding, and the portions were generous without being greasy. Definitely a place I’ll be visiting again!

We have been going to this restaurant for a long time, enjoying lunch specials, dinner items and large portion catering for events. The food is always tasty, in good portions and service is great. It’s nice to sit and enjoy good food. Relaxed and bright dining area.

Decided to order because I saw they stated they had Guyanese dishes. Let me be clear: chicken legs on top of fried rice or noodles IS NOT Guyanese. There is supposed to be a specific flavour and certain ingredients that make it Guyanese and we’ll, this fell short.
In terms of the food, it was good but very greasy. Would I order again? Maybe. I would definitely not be ordering “Guyanese” from them.

Absolutely love this place! The Big Zen is Indian Hakka, Chinese, Thai & Guyanese cuisine. Delicious is hands-down the best restaurant in Whitby. We always order the mango salad, Thai green curry, and Manchurian — all full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The spring rolls are my kids’ favourite, crispy and delicious every time. We usually end up doubling the order because everything is just that good. Highly recommend if you’re craving authentic food!
