Gumbo was hot & delicious. blackened catfish is not really blackened but more like blackened sauced. The etouffe and fried crawfish tasted great. My only reason for a 4 is that it’s all served “St. Louis” hot (almost room temperature). Prices were very reasonable.

I tried their creamy pasta combo (chicken and shrimp), ordered their version of hush puppies (Shut up Dogs is what they call them) they were ok, not sweet like I’ve tried at other places. I also tried the alligator tails, first time in general to try that, and it was ok, not sure what they’re supposed to taste like, but they were a little chewy. Their new York style cheesecake was worth trying, not super sweet but just right.

What a great place. Fun atmosphere, GOOD food, and GREAT service. To start it off, our waitress was Emma…highly recommend asking for her…she is knowledgeable about the menu, and made great recommendations. We started with gator bites and boudin balls, both were fabulous. I had the crawfish trio for my dinner, and husband had the catfish and shrimp combo. Everything was spot on. Emma kept our drinks full and was right on top of making sure we had everything we needed (wanted). Wait staff is everything, and to have a nice smile, pleasant demeanor, knowledge and just on top of the job, says volumes about Emma. Go try The Big Easy…we will be going again real soon! Delicious!

The good: Service was prompt.
The bad: Cajun food?? Not hardly. Red beans and rice: Dry as a bone. Tasted like the cook dumped the paprika & red pepper/cayenne in by the metric ton. Sausage that was worst tasting than a boiled hotdog. Cajun Red Beans and Rice is cooked with Andouille; not whatever crap that was.
Sides: Corn and corn. Tasted like straight dumped out of the can and microwaved. No butter, no seasoning. And again dry.
Only upside was the fried gator… Oh yeah, NOPE OUT of that option.
It had been a while since the last time that we tried this place, & its still the same if not worse.
Suggestions from someone who grew up south of I-10/New Orleans / Lafayette: Proper seasoning of the “cajun” red beans & rice don’t just dump a ton of paprika & red pepper and call that cajun seasoning. Use actual andouille sausage (not whatever the crap that you are currently using). And cook the beans thoroughly, like actually simmer them all day. Beans are NOT meant to be firm when being eaten.
Gumbo is made with meat (a combination of chicken, andouille, and/ or shrimp, crab), okra, the holy trinity (celery, onion, and bell pepper all sautéed), tomatoes (depending on how you are raised), chicken/shrimp stock, & filé which is added to a nice dark caramel roux. Then cooked at a nice simmer for hours, like all day. (Note: carrots? Not in gumbo, unless you’re a yankee). Not sure if I’ll ever try this again, considering the cost of an inedible entrée/side and taste buds that are currently absolutely revolted over the abuse. Best of luck to you, if you are “brave” enough to eat here.

Great tasting food. Crab dip was so good to start off with. Then rolled into the crawfish trio. Could not finish my gumbo. It was so good. Got to also taste the creole chicken and it was amazing. Great prices too!

My husband and I used to love this place but tonight just showed us it’s not the same. We don’t get to go out often and chose to go here. The service was horrible and it’s not often I feel out of place but the staff was horrible we waited at least ten minutes to get any service and the waitress acted as if we were literally garbage. Stopped to talk to her friends and wasn’t worried about our table at all. The night manger wasn’t any better.

We started with the Shut Up Dogs, which are hush puppies. They were good and their custom tartar sauce had great flavor. My wife and I both ordered the Creole Chicken and it was a creamy chicken sauce with bell peppers over rice. The sides were French bread and corn. We also had a dinner salad with their in-house Swamp dressing, which was a Cajun Ranch flavor. Don’t let the name of the dressing fool you; it was good! We would recommend and try it again.

Absolutely love this place! Red beans and rice, crawfish etouffee, blackened sausage dinner, and the boudin balls are all fantastic. We live an hour away so we don’t make it up there often but we try. Its a small spot and the hours are kind strange so check the website before traveling.

Beautiful, wondrous, and flavorful food all served by kind and hard working waiters inside a cozy place. The Chicken, Sausage, Shrimp, and Pasta is just all oh so good and you get plenty for the price! Please don’t pass this up!
