In town to visit my sister, we went for a walk along the water and stopped for lunch at The Big Bean. The atmosohere/decorations are what i would call “artsy/eclectic.” Very nicely done. I would have taken some photos but we were in mid-conversation and i didn’t want to pause to fish out my ohone.

The service was fast and friendly and our food was delivered fairly quickly. We both got different versions of their smash burger and they were delicious! Very flavorful! There was some sort of seasoning added pre-, mid-, or post-grilling that added flavor without being overpowering. The meals were served with nicely-seasoned home fries, that were also outstanding.

Props to Ash, who was a knowledgeable and helpful server.

Our party of seven enjoyed our experience at the big Bean in Exeter. The staff was prompt courteous and kept us abreast of our situation with such a large party. When we were seated, we were able to get our food in a relatively quick manner. The menu has a wide variety of selections some of the highlights Were the scramble bowl, the make your own sandwich and the sweet potato hash. We definitely enjoyed our meal and would highly suggest you check out the spot when you’re in the Exeter area.

I love this place! I think all the food is probably good, but the breakfast items are exceptional. I had bagel breakfast sandwiches here twice, and they were delicious. The servers are nice and friendly, and there was plenty of seating when I visited at lunchtime.

Usually love the BB, and the atmosphere and service are always first-rate. But the coffee is terrible here! It’s really good in Newmarket, don’t understand why it’s so poor in Exeter. Ours tasted like it had been stored in the Hazlenut coffee carafe; it had an odd smell and aftertaste. Also, for the love of Mike, give a spoon when serving tea! How is anyone supposed to squeeze the darned teabag with two little sticks?? And offer milk; most tea drinkers if they want dairy, want milk!
Also, the bagel was godawful, tasted like it was out of a bag of Hannaford frozen bagels. Dry, virtually no seasoning on it. Just bad. I’m sorry to say this, but the breakfast was utterly disappointing, except for the eggs.

My mother and I came across this restaurant after having a relaxing time at the salt caves across the street. We truly enjoyed their breakfast menu and had there Sweet Potatoe Hash Scrambler/Skillet. It was amazing and we can’t wait to go back. Great vibes along with a nice relaxing atmosphere.

We used to enjoy breakfast at the Big Bean when we lived in Newmarket. The food at the Exeter location is also good, however we won’t be going back for one reason: It’s way too loud. Not just poor acoustics and televisions, but the volume and choice of music. I have no interest in shouting over AC/DC at breakfast. Also, read the room. Does overly loud hard rock really fit with families with older folks and toddlers? Anyone even remotely sensitive to noise will want to get out of there, asap.

We dined and enjoyed trivia at the Big Bean last night. There were six of us. The bean mac was ok. Chicken tenders were ok. Grilled cheese was ok. The poutine was ok. Grilled rice bowl was ok. Once you navigate that every item on the menu includes every ingredient in the kitchen, it was all ok. The trivia host, the cold beer, and the tots were the best parts of our BB experience. Drinks and dinner was about $50/adult (before tips). Probably a very popular dining spot for the north Massachusetts/Phillips Exeter crowd. Thanks.

We just went for drinks, but heard breakfast is amazing so asked to look at that menu and WOW IT LOOKS SO GOOD.
Everything on the dinner menu looked awesome too and we will definitely be going back to eat. I’m always looking for good breakfast spots so I’m super psyched this is close by!
Atmosphere was chill, good music and low lighting when we were there around 630.
Service was friendly and quick.
Beware there is a flight of stairs to get in from the street in case u have a stroller or old person with you!

Update: went back for dinner and first of all the wine pours are impressive.
Second, the food was great. The menu is not straightforward fare in a good way. Kind of an American spin on Mexican? Went with a couple girl friends we shared the nachos and I got tacos. All was yummy and I would go back!
