We were visiting Bethel for a weekend trip and knew nothing about the town or restaurants. We saw this place on google and decided to give it a try, it’s easily in my top five favorite places to eat EVER now!! I’m so sad we don’t live close enough to come every weekend, because the food, ice cream and service are phenomenal. The girls working here make you feel like a local and are SO nice, the food is absolutely to die for, and the ice cream was the best ice cream sundae we’ve ever had. I would come back to Bethel (which is five hours away for us, to put it into perspective) just to get the honey mustard chicken wrap and peanut butter sundae. Can’t speak highly enough about this place.

2024: Super yummy ice cream and the menu identifies allergens so one knows what they are ordering and doesn’t need to ask about every flavor which is excellent because I’m gluten free and that can be time consuming.
Service is fast and excellent.

I had a grilled cheese on whole wheat. Nothing fancy, but I appreciated a choice in breads. It was toasted perfectly and arrived to the table quickly. I had actually stopped for an ice cream cone, but they were only offering 5 different flavors…none that struck a chord with me. I was expecting a bigger list since the sign advertised Gifford’s, which is one of my favorites in hard ice cream choices. Anyway, no complaints. Good sandwich. Quick and friendly service. Clean dining g area and restroom.

Outside ice cream ordering made it easy for us with our dog. They were very friendly and the Pup cup was a huge hit with our dog. It was vanilla soft serve with peanutbutter sauce and a milk bone.

Great little place. They care about the community. They have a pay it forward wall, so you can help others or be helped. They always have a basket of canned goods too. The staff is super sweet. The menu is huge! Took me a while to make a choice. I went with onion rings and a chicken sandwich. Very tasty.

Clean shop, alert and friendly family n friends behind the counter running the place. Steak n cheese , onion rings burgers ,wings, pizza.. awesome shakes handspun from the ice-cream list YEAR ROUND! Yet to try anything that I won’t order again. Outside sit spots with umbrellas! The deck bench is even free of ice-cream stickyness maintained.

The best pizza ever. Being form Boston and busting NY a lot I was so surprised to find amazing pizza at my favorite ski resort up the street. We called ahead and they told us 45 minutes to eat in they were slammed. But when we got there they got us our pizza earlier and it was so good. The flavor in the sauce was amazing. The atmosphere was nice and warm. The employees so nice. Highly recommended.

This place is worth every good review and then some! We stopped in multiple times during our stay and there wasn’t a single thing we didn’t love- it was all SO good! Shakes, food, seasonal items… all amazing. We actually had to force ourselves to try other restaurants in the area after the first few times because it was so easy to keep going back! The people were a huge part of that too, everyone we interacted with was so nice! They make you feel like you’re a regular even if it’s your first visit and we really enjoyed talking with them! They’re in a great location with great hours as well! I highly recommend The Bethel Sugar Shack!
