Nice atmosphere with no overtly loud music. Very friendly staff! The pierogies were delectable. The plank salmon was ok. The beer battered cod was good except mine had bones in it still. The fries were crisp and delicious. Excellent tartar sauce and vegetables. Good prices. Orange juice was ‘from frozen’.

First off, food was great, beer amazing. Venue cool but it smells like the bathroom got backed up. Also, Andrea the bar tender is awful. She ignored us. Would have been 1 star but Chris the bar back saved the day with his intelligence on the bee selections and was overly nice. Will def recommend this place, just not Andrea

Ordered Weiner schnitzel with 2 sunny eggs and sausage trio entrees and they arrived quickly. Schnitzel was delicious and recommend with the eggs. Didn’t like the anchovies though lol. The sausage platter was great with semi mashed potatoes and sauerkraut. Diet root beer was tasty but it’s been so long that I hadn’t tried and can’t remember if it’s supposed to be carbonated as this one wasn’t. The server was so friendly and gave a brief background of the long standing family restaurant. Craft beer is from next door Adams Brewery.

Authentic German cuisine that will have you yearning for more. I can’t recommend this restaurant enough to someone who is not sure where to eat when they visit Chicago. I’ve been here plenty of times as a child and finally was able to visit as an adult. It was exactly as I remembered. You will experience the same amazing service and food every time you come to enjoy. This time I was happy to hear they had live music and a great combination with the brewery next door (Adams Street Brewery). Come enjoy the good eats and great times!

Talk about a solid, been here forever, classic Chi town restaurant. This is it. Big painting on the wall from the 1893 Exposition. Food is classic old world German, but with a modern touch. Wait staff is dedicated. Check out the German chocolate cake.

Having German food is a plus for me. When the German food is very good that’s even better. This is one of those places where you see the facilities and you think maybe this wasn’t a good choice. The restaurant and furniture look old, but don’t let that stop you from getting an authentic German meal. The prices weren’t bad either. If you want German food and you are in the downtown Chicago area, this is a must visit. You must plan because they close kind of early.

I chose The Berghoff to celebrate my 50th birthday and I was not disappointed. We started with a couple of great cocktails and got the bread basket instead of a full appetizer (knowing there would likely be a lot to the entrees). My jaegerschnitzel was delicious and my husband thoroughly enjoyed the beef medallions. And the German chocolate cake for dessert was decadent and fabulous. Service throughout was top notch.

I really loved this place. Service was excellent, the staff was friendly and welcoming. The Goulash a lil too salty, so if you are on a low sodium diet don’t order that. Restrooms are downstairs so I don’t know much about wheelchair accessibility. The place is kid friendly
