I wouldn’t define it as a coffee shop but I will say when I’m in the mood for something warm and yummy, I have a favorite sandwich or two. The Cheshire Pulled Pork Cubano or Avocado toast with a side of tater tots makes me quite happy.
It’s also a great “bodega” of sorts. Super easy to make a gift bag, a hostess gift, or fill up your pantry with tons of unique culinary finds and so much more. Trust me. I’ve lived here long enough to remember it being built!
I ordered the Cobb salad that comes with pulled chicken and asked if they could substitute the pulled chicken with one chicken strip. I’ve done this many times before without any issue, and it’s a simple swap since both items are already on the menu and similarly priced. This time, they refused and said they couldn’t make any modifications.
I went over to speak with a manager to explain that this substitution had been done for me many times before. Instead of being open to the conversation, she was dismissive and rude, which really took away from the experience.
To make matters worse, they had already run out of desserts only about an hour after opening.
It’s unfortunate because the food is generally good and we’ve enjoyed coming here in the past. A little flexibility and courtesy would go a long way. Hopefully this was just an off day, but the way the situation was handled was disappointing
I’ll stick to restaurants with table service. Food at the Belted Goat is no bargain and not worth the hassle.
Check out this size of this $4 scone after tax, not including the tip they ask for. They used to be literally twice the size… they shrunk them a few weeks back. The staff even comented on how small the portions in general have become. You can get better value elsewhere.
Want a sandwich for lunch? 16$. Side of fries? 8$. It’s getting crazy. Even worse? They add a 15% gratuity to online orders? Who exactly am I tipping? And for what service?
Well worth the visit and we will be going back when we get a chance. I’m just glad its so close.
