They have a beer sampler that allows you to have a small glass of few different ones, and they’ll even give you a small taste of one or two things if you’re not sure what you want.
Their “wall of beer” even has a good selection of hard ciders, hard seltzers, etc. written on it. They also have a full service bar with special cocktails for holidays, etc, and they can do mocktails as well tho I haven’t personally experienced either of these things myself.
The staff is friendly and knowledgeable as well. One of the staff recommended my husband’s current favorite – – a blood orange hard Italian soda. Service is pretty fast unless they’re really crowded.
We chose to come to beer hog for my sister’s birthday celebration. She’s been here before and had a good experience from the pool tables. We arrived at 10:30pm, an hour and a half before they close on a Saturday night. We intended to celebrate my sister, and spend money at the establishment on drinks and whatever food was offered. The workers were dismissive of this from the moment we stepped into the establishment, an hour and a half before they closed, again on a Saturday night. They informed us that they had already done last call with every chair in the business turned up. They escort us out of the door saying there’s another place down the hall that has food and drinks we can visit. I walk down the hall and there’s nothing. I realize what I was just told and revisit where I just left to see why they had closed so early on a weekend. They say the owner told them if they are slow they are permitted to close early, and if I don’t leave they will call the police. They begin counting down from 30, to which I am extremely confused at their hostility and decide to stand in place and call the police myself as well. The conclusion of this of course resulted in me being escorted from the business.
I acknowledge that the workers, the owner, the business has the right to refuse service at any moment, but the man who called the police acknowledged that no one in my group was hostile, and for this reason I am appalled that instead of serving a guest/customer that prances into your business on a prime night of the week, you instead call the police on them due to how much you don’t want to serve them an hour and a half before you close. I’ve worked in the service industry since the day I turned 16 (now 26). Even customers walking in a minute before closing I have served to the fullest extent because if you’re open you’re open and if you’re closed you’re closed. Simple.
