100% a dive bar but a wonderful one at that. Sometimes you want a place to just relax from a long day. I’m from out of town and had no issues here. The bartender was attentive and value for the service was exceptional. The night I went there was a nice gentleman playing acoustic guitar and singing which was very nice.

So I’m traveling from out of state and the hotel was eager to recommend places, but they swore by The Beast, so I opted to visit. It was empty of customers when I arrived, noting plenty of parking around the back.
The manager (owner) was present and refurbishing the place, and he was super kind and responsive to all questions. They’re even running a 50% off deal this month, and he suggested the value of buying a larger meal than the lunch special at a significant benefit to me when considering the cost.
I got the omnivore large pizza and a Coca Cola. The food came out piping hot, loaded with toppings and covered in delicious cheese. The pizza was absolutely amazing. Ingredients are fresh.
The environment is what you’d expect for a bar in a college town, abundant bar activities like pool tables, a wheel to spin when you don’t know what to drink (adult beverages), and the handwriting of tons of visitors on the chalkboard painted walls. If I was back in my old college days, it’d be the type of place I’d hang out.
Service was exceptional, especially when I was alerted to their policy of paying a fair wage to all employees, foregoing gratuity in favor of a dedicated 15% service charge. For just a large pizza, a coke, tax and the service charge was just under 20 bucks. This covers me for dinner tonight and potentially lunch tomorrow.
I highly recommend The Beast of Blacksburg for their food, friendliness, and staff friendly policies.

The first time I went here it was very busy but I was able to order get my food and it was very good. This was back in December.
Then I went in tonight. I ordered 2 orders of wings loving the buy one get one so I ordered BBQ and sesame ginger. I live down in Elliston and there’s currently a snow storm outside. When we were finally able to get home in the storm we sat to eat. When we make our wings we pour the sauce into the box and shake it so every wing is covered since the sauce ones on the side. What we weren’t aware of was they gave us spicy BBQ which my husband is not able to eat because of a medical issue. I called the restaurant to let them know they had messed up and was very rudely told the following “We aren’t going to do anything about it. We put the sauce on the side so it’s not our issue or fault you poured it on the wings. That’s your issue not ours.”
I never asked them to do anything about it I was informing them they made a mistake and should be aware so others aren’t affected but to be talked to like that? Like what I had to say doesn’t matter or count for anything? That pissed me off and has made me question if I want to go back to this restaurant in the future.

Best place in Blacksburg to get insanely drunk. The bartender basically tries to kill you after your second drink. The pool tables are free sometimes. Worst fries I have ever had, they actually blew my mind. The security camera is plugged into a customer-accessible outlet with a USB, and there can be various tools and paint scattered in the environment. Totally a PvP zone.

And that’s before you take into account that I have to go down there and order in person because their website continues to say they are closed for inclement weather even when they’re perfectly fine and open. Similarly, their website continues to list steak as an option, despite their in-person menu no longer having it.
Bad service, bad website, and consistent inconvenience for middling food. Would not recommend.

Came in on a Saturday night because I had a coupon. Our server Ornella was amazing and so nice. Pizza took a little while because it was busy and they were low on staff due to the school break, but it wasn’t their fault and it came out delicious. I will be coming back sometime.

I love coming here for pizza or calzones, compared to Papa John’s or dominos it does not inflame my gerd basically at all, and it is entirely better tasting and pricing is better. The servers are always polite, I’ve had one slight hiccup, but if someone were to get angry about that then they’d have to be quite entitled and self important. It’s nothing, and nowhere near enough to stop me from keep coming back. Favorite pizza place in the burg.

I recently traveled to Pisgah and had the pleasure of trying their Chupacabra pizza. It was, without a doubt, one of the best pizzas I have ever tasted. The ingredients were fresh, the flavors were perfectly balanced, and the crust was just the right combination of crispy and chewy. The service was exceptional, with attentive and friendly staff who made the experience even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a fantastic pizza and excellent service!

Scam! I asked a week ago if they did calzone versions of their specialty pizzas, and was told they did. I was charged the same price as the specialty pizza of the same size. All good. Today I asked again and ordered a calzone, and was charged the price of a calzone PLUS $13.50 in toppings. This was after they assured me they did calzone versions of their pizzas. I guess the price depends on the mood of the person working the register. When I questioned it, I was told they just did what they were told.

Reviewing this as a bar not a pizza place. The vibe is excellent, friendly staff and patrons. The entertainment is great – pool, darts and live music – what else would you want. The prices are early 2000s Blacksburg, it’s like a time warp drinking here when you get the bill.
