The Portsmouth location is my mother’s favorite place to dine! So, it only seemed appropriate to have 30 of her family members and friends, meet her there for a surprise 75th birthday luncheon….
I called a month ahead of time, and was told they’d be happy to accommodate. The week before, I visited the location and spoke with Dawn. She was amazing! She listened intently on what we were looking to do, and helped make the process extremely smooth. She is a true professional.
The day of the luncheon arrived and everything went off without a hitch. Food orders were taken, and food flowed out of the kitchen in a timely manner. Dawn and her staff were very helpful and attentive. My mother could not have been happier!
I appreciate how wonderful everyone at The Beach Plum Portsmouth was to work with and enthusiastically recommend this location for anyone looking to have a get together with family, friends or coworkers. 5+ stars

The ice cream is gigantic. The red container is a kiddy size. It was super crowded and the line was pretty long. Lobster rolls were good and fresh with a yummy buttered roll but I had shell fragments in mine (4). They are obviously a local favorite. I just wish they were more careful about the shell for a $42 roll

Good, but not top tier. The fish had a noticeably off taste, I’ve never experienced that taste until this meal. The whole belly clams are always inconsistent. I’m not a fan of the tartar sauce. Fries are decent, ice cream is pretty tasty.

Be careful when you order online. They double charged me and even when I proved I paid for my food they told me to trust that the charge will be put back on. A week later I’m still trying to get my money back.
The supervisor was very abrupt and rude when I questioned him about the charges. I feel anytime money is involved a business should be gracious when communicating. This young man was not gracious. I asked to speak to the owner and he was more professional however he did not solve the problem. He again ask me to wait to see if it’s released. In the mean time my debit card is off on my funds.
Being so close to after Christmas it is not okay to play with customers money.
I am extremely disappointed with simply wanting scallops and it turning to this issue.!
The scallops were stringy and dry. Do not order food close to closing. I believe they reheat the food they cooked earlier.

Honestly you don’t come here for the atmosphere. But it is super NEW ENGLAND, I personally love it. ❤️ and my goodness the scallops and clams were absolutely brilliant. The batter is so clean, the oil clean, the restaurant clean. Simply a lovely spot. Beer selection is…. kind of mid, and the tap wasn’t working for the 603 beer I wanted to try but, that doesn’t take away from how good the food was.

Lobster rolls these days are expensive and very small, which is kind of sad.
The taste was delicious. The texture of the lobster was a bit watery, but maybe that’s normal. I’m from California so I don’t really know.

Picnic benches in a fast food type setting. We were excited to try what some said is the best but it was just marginal. Toasted bun was. Ice and lobster was good but not great and just lobster. No coleslaw, or any other additions. Pricey now too like everything else. Lobster bisque had lobster, but the broth was a combination of Campbell’s tomato and mushroom soup so just a meh.

Stopped here for lunch a couple of days ago on the way home from Maine.
Really good food, from the chowder to the delicious clam strips to the 8 oz lobster roll. My only thought is I wish the 8 oz could be divided onto 2 rolls, without having to pay more for 2 4- oz rolls, as it was spilling out of the bun.
Pleasant setting, clean bathrooms, and great food. Who could ask for more?

I went here for ice cream and got a “Artic Freeze” with vanilla soft serve, and it was absolutely disgusting. It tasted fizzy like there was soda water in it, and overall did not taste right at all. Bathrooms were pretty disgusting as well.
