This restaurant is extremely good. I cannot believe that I have driven by so many times and not stopped. Excellent place very quick and professional. I can tell from one bite they know what they are doing to a tee. I ordered the trio. Great with a cold beer too.

Ambiance was better than the food. Style of this little BBQ place looks promising as you walk through the doors with signs and posters throughout with country music playing in the background. Feels right at home for a Southern raised man like myself. Staff was friendly and courteous. Ordered the food and sat down. Table was extremely wobbly so we switched to another. Wife ordered a side salad and was brought out promptly. Although it was less than desirable and a sad salad. Picture included. Only lettuce and we asked for the ranch extra so they would have only brought out leaves to eat. Food came out and looked very appealing. I ordered the Chipotle pulled pork sandwich. But when I bit into it i was expecting a explosion of flavor which was not granted to me. Pork was flavorless and the Chipotle sauce did not come to the rescue as it was watered down and barely noticeable. I asked for their Spicy BBQ sauce which finally made the sandwich where I would enjoy eating it. I have tried this store for the 3rd time and have officially struck it from my list of which I will return to eat.

Although it’s a hole in the wall dive with an awkward driveway entrance this is, hands down, the BEST BBQ in Groton if not Connecticut! My coworkers and I were iffy about eating at the location but the food was delicious, the portions large, cheap compared to all the other restaurants and a friendly staff made it a great choice for our travel crew! When we come back this way we’ll definitely hit this place again!

I was born to eat food and this was just some of the BEST damn BBQ that I have ever had. Service was as awesome as the food.
While in CT, we ate at S&P Oyster and the Steak Loft.
Both were good, but they can’t even compare to Bayou Smokehouse.
For the quality of food and the low price, I doubt you will beat this place.
Go there once and I gauranteed you’ll be going back!!

The owner, Pierre, greeted us and was very friendly. He had an infections excitement for his trade and was genuinely excited for us to try his food. The gumbo was out of this world. Best I have ever had. The sweet potato fries were really amazing. Melted in your mouth. The Reubens was delicious. Hand crafted pastrami that was long on flavor and just the right amount of salty. The banana bread and vanilla ice cream dessert was incredible. Great value for the money. I would absolutely eat there again.

We have only eaten there once. It was really good! I had the Deluxe Cheese fries. They may be the best I have ever had. When they say Deluxe, they mean it. It’s not generic chili from a can or soupy “cheese” on bagged fries. They used (what looked to me like) homemade chili, real cheese, and melt in your mouth smoked brisket.
The brisket was so good that I had to order a separate platter to go. I just finished the last of it today. It made wonderful BBQ beef sandwiches.
Other noteworthy dishes were the amazing macaroni and cheese and the tasty plain fries. The fries were good enough to still eat cold the next day. You don’t normally get that from anywhere that I am aware of.
The only thing that would keep us from going back was the price. The Bayou has great food and a good atmosphere. The Oldies music playing on the radio was a really nice touch. However, It was too costly to be able to eat there more than occasionally. Although, when that occasion does arrive, you’ll really love it.

This place is really great. It has some really good BBQ options as well as some other southern favorites, like gator bites. The price, for what you get, is cheap and the staff are super friendly. You can smell the smoker driving by and it just draws you in. I would go back to this place over and over. They also do take out which makes for great late night dinners.

Great BBQ, I had the brisket and it was out standing. My wife and Very picky Son had the Pulled pork and said it was fantastic!!
I also got the gator bites and they were some of the best i had.

I used to go to New Orleans every month and when I saw The Bayou Smokehouse on my GPS I got excited…
I ordered the trio: Pulled pork, Brisket and Jerk. I had the Carolina BBQ on both the Pork and Brisket… It was OK (I may be being nice) The the Brisket was tender and had a nice layer of fat but almost 0 flavor, same with the pork. The Jerk was fabulous, spicy just like it should be. The coleslaw was bland and the potatoe salad has to get a pass because my taste buds were on fire from the jerk and I couldn’t get a good read on them.
I don’t think I will be a repeat customer it just didn’t bring back those bayou memories…
