Social Profile:

Baylander started its service life in 1968 as harbor utility craft YFU-79 during the Vietnam War. It was one of 16 Skilak class lighters that were purchased by the US Navy and used to move men and material around the delta regions there. After the war, it was laid up until 1986 when it was converted into a helicopter landing trainer and renamed Baylander HLT after its home port in Pensacola Bay. Over the next 25 years there were over 122,000 landings on board. It allowed members of all the services and allied nations the opportunity to become aircraft carrier qualified in landing on a moving ship at sea. After the decision to go with computer based flight training, it was sold at auction and purchased by the Trenk Family Foundation in 2012

Pub grub & cocktails are served at this lively open-air eatery set on a docked Vietnam-era warship.

EDIT: Check your credit card statement! An 18% mystery charge was added after the initial purchase though one was not authorized when payment was made. Contacted establishment via email as there’s no phone number listed and never received a response.

Former “World’s Smallest Aircraft Carrier” turned outdoor bar and grill. Amazing views, good menu. The shrimp tacos were delicious, but very small. The sweet potato fries were good and a nice portion. Casual, cool vibe—but a bit too loud.

This is a beautiful spot to get drinks and food with friends. This is was my second time going here. The first time I came for a birthday party while this time it was just a get-together with friends. The scenery is amazing. The food and drink options are also pretty good. You don’t have to worry about splitting checks if you don’t want to because everyone can order their food and drinks separately and bring them back to the table. My party of 3 did a walk-in on a busy Saturday afternoon and was seated within 10 minutes. Reservations are not required but I would definitely recommend making one if coming in the evening on a weekend because a lot of private events happen. The Saturday we went they closed at 6pm for a private event. So it’s good to know if the place is open or how many seats are available. Overall would definitely recommend to stop by with friends for drinks and good vibes this summer.

Playlist was perfect. There are 4 restrooms/stalls. Two on each level. Decent selection of bar food. If you go in the cooler months like spring and fall, your food will get cold quick due to the sea breeze. Slight smell of garbage every once in awhile.

Was here for a private event. Food was all plant-based and incredible! Good selection of non-alcoholic drinks. Great service. And of course very cool that it’s a boat!

Cool experience. Order drinks and food at the bar. You get a buzzer to pick up your food at the window when it is ready. It was crowded and there was a birthday party event happening when we went. I recommend a reservation if you can! Especially for sunset.

The fish taco and lobster toll and hot dog were great. I won’t order the calamari again but it wasn’t bad, it wasn’t spicy and just didn’t seem worth it.

Updated review: Extremely loud environment during recent visits and no response from staff or management about adjusting the volume just a little; unable to tolerate the painfully noisy environment anymore. Our table was unable to converse on a Sunday afternoon, other guests in our party complained about the extremely loud music, overall a bad experience and disappointed we can’t go back because it’s otherwise a great establishment. Original review: Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, and food is decent. Excellent handling of a surprise summer storm; they instantly moved the party below deck and made the experience even more fun for us than usual.

It’s beautiful to see that my neighborhood can enjoy the same things as those who live below 96 Street. I went on a Wednesday, and they had a private party but were opening up for the public at 3:15pm. Hostess was very informative. Told us how to order, where to pick up, and also where the restroom was. The maintenance staff were on point, a napkins fell, and they were right there to pick it up. I had the pretzels, and it was so soft and delicious. The sauces are one cheese and the other mustard. It was wonderful to know they have mocktails and non-alcoholic beer. Will definitely return loved the sun and feeling the waves.
