The greeting and service were attentive and friendly. But the food was just mediocre. And the atmosphere was less than friendly even before coming inside (see photos). I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that the place was entirely empty when I came in (and there was still only one other customer there when I left). I didn’t hate it, but I can’t recommend it either.

Everyone was nice. The white bratwurst and spaetzle was very good. The red cabbage and Hunterschnitzel were pretty good. I have never had cold German potato salad before but it was OK. The Pretzel was very hard.

This is a well worn restaurant. It is like a pair of comfortable old sneakers! We eat there every time we visit Mt. Dora. If you like authentic German food this is you place. Today we had Bratwurst with hot German potato salad and pork with dark gravy, sauerkraut and spaeztle! Delicious. It is off the main drag and generally quiet. Give it a try.

We had a fabulous German dinner that rivaled my German mother’s cooking! My brother lives out of state and can’t wait to come back. He had the Wiener Schnitzel and my sister-in-law and I had the Sauerbraten. The portions were generous and were freshly prepared. With a little updating inside, this could be the German hot spot! The chef Sarah was trained by the Bavarian owner and she has nailed Bavarian cuisine! The server La was excellent! We were too full for dessert but took a piece of Black Forest torte home and wished we had purchased 3! It is exquisite. As a Bavarian born and American raised foodie, I highly recon this restaurant!

Food is great. Better than hollerbach over at Sanford. Everything was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. Some issues I had was the space was small, food to a long time to come out, and there’s a share plate charge. What that means is that if you have people who are not really eating but just snacking off of your plate then they will charge you 10 per person for them to be there. I’m told it’s on the menu but I think it would be great if the server mentioned it was well. Would’ve just bought food for them as good as the food was.

Ok. Here is a honest review. The good. decor cute and humble. That’s about it you consider $48 paid for this review so other folks do NOT spend there money as we already suffered enough for you. So the bad. Appetizers are clearly not homemade and come from a box frozen. How do you know well the frozen burn taste as well as a cookie cutter perfect app. Next the potato salad tasted rancid and of paste so much I literally went to the bathroom and tossed my cookies. Note to owners if patrons leave full plates and ask for bill 10 mins after food arrives and wants zero boxes. Tell tale to rethink your order of business and chef choice. This is clearly a tourist trap and maybe good for a frozen pretzel and a beer but NOT FOR authentic German fare. If this could be less then a star review it would be. based on other similar reviews this not anything new and will continue. So as these folks ignore reviews we as diners must inform each other to keep clear.

My family and I were in town today for our mother’s funeral who was German. We thought we would get to together 01/08 tonight and eat German food. We walked in, we had 9 adults and 5 small kids. The lady at the front bar area was absolutely rude and told us we could not eat there. Her attitude toward us was unacceptable and had the worst tone a place of service should ever have. We walked next door to the Italian restaurant who welcomed us with a warm hug and had no problem accommodating our family.

On 7/4/25 (Happy 4th!!), Lala was our server and she was awesome! Great Bier, amazing food, and perfect service!! We couldn’t ask for more. In our opinion, one of the best hidden gems in Mt Dora! ❤️ we had a HUGE Bitburger, a Raspberry ale, German pretzel, German chocolate cake, and potato pancakes.
** Burger King sign, best sign ever!!! Love it❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

My family and I were so excited to go here, the service was awesome! the manager/hostess was very charismatic and amazing at informing us about the German cuisine.
It was a nice touch to have the great chef personally brining us our food from time to time. Great ambiance to go with family or friends, and prices are very reasonable for the great quality of food you’re getting.
Don’t forget to try the cheese strudel, we ended up getting both the apple and cheese they were fantastic! Will be going back

Oh my goodness! The prices have gone up significantly. For instance, there’s a meal I absolutely love. Last time, I paid $40, but now it’s $50. Moreover, a mandatory 20% service charge is now applied, regardless of the number of people in the group.
