Completely redone inside. Just had sandwiches that were enormous and delicious! We will be returning to try some dinner entrees. Very enjoyable evening.

I’m impressed with the Barrel House. There were a few upsets food wise but the place is set up very nice. The staff is kind and courteous. When me and my friends went it was busy so the food took maybe an hour or close to be served. My medium burger came out well done but it was still an amazing burger, there was no soup and the soft pretzels with beer cheese dip was bland. Other then that I had a good time and can’t complain.

Had lunch here once a few months ago and was impressed with the burger and sandwich offerings, so decided to meet up there with friends for dinner on a Saturday evening about two weekends back.

Had reservations for 7 PM and we were seated right away, no problems.

Ordered drinks before ordering entrees, took awhile to get them to our table even though the bar and dining room weren’t terribly busy when we arrived. Service was pretty good, otherwise.
Staff was pleasant and attentive.

Entrees didn’t all come out to the table at the same time, more than a few minutes between which was bit awkward. I personally ordered the Salmon from the dinner menu, which I have to say was very nicely prepared. However, it was served with bland white rice and a small helping of overcooked broccoli. And a salad, soup, or even some bread were not offered along with the entree. Disappointing, especially for a $20+ meal!

The front dining room is cozy, rustic, and charming. There is a small bar and additional seating in the rear of the building. Located right downtown, there’s street parking available as well as a public lot located nearby.

A band set up as we were finishing our meal, crammed into the front of the already crowded front dining room. The band was pretty good, but was way too loud for the small space.

My suggestion to anyone considering the Barrel House is to stick to the sandwich and burger offerings and skip the dinner entrees. You’ll definitely get more bang for your buck!

Decided to check this place out with my girlfriend and was not disappointed. Both of our dishes were cooked perfectly and the service was great. Here another random thing I can say that is good about them. Their ketchup is homemade. I don’t even like typical ketchup but I gave theirs a try and it was amazing.

This is my second visit here. The service has been GREAT both times. I loved all the apps that we ordered (tacos, burrata) the steak sandwich left a bit to be desired in my opinion. I wish it was on a good bread vs a hamburger bun. The horseradish mayo was quite bland and the steak chunks were too big to be eaten as a sandwich. However that’s my only negative comment. Great vibe overall.

Highly recommend the bruschetta chicken breast. Was really impressed with the staff. Very friendly. The waitress walked me through the cocktail list and I ended up going with the blackberry mimosa which was delicious. Great ambience too. I will definitely be bringing all of my friends here.

My boyfriend and I went for dinner on a Thursday night. The atmosphere and decor is great. We ordered the beef empanadas as an appetizer and they were good, I’d recommend getting them. For entrees, I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and my boyfriend ordered the flank steak rare. The food took a long time to come to the table and his steak was cooked well done and was so tough and over cooked. There were only 2 other tables in the restaurant but for some reason our waitress took FOREVER to come back. Once she finally did, he sent the steak back and ordered a mozzarella and tomato sandwich instead since he thought it would come out quickly. However, it look at least 15 minutes to come out! We don’t understand how a sandwich that easy to make took so long with barely anyone else in the restaurant. My grilled chicken tasted good, but it was unfortunate that my boyfriend and I couldn’t eat at the same time. Overall, the service was awful, the food wasn’t cooked right and it took forever. I won’t be going back.

My wife and I have only been here a few times since it became the Barrel House. They have a wonderful beer and wine menu and their food is very good. I tend to favor the burger, but last time even though I asked for rare it came out well done. The reason I’m still giving it 5 stars is because the waitress was very apologetic and even offered to take it off the bill. I don’t downgrade a restaurant just because of one somewhat bad experience. The interior is wonderful as well and is in an old brick building with beautiful hardwood floors. When the weather is warm the outer doors all open up onto the street and it creates a really great atmosphere. Service can be a little slow on nights when there is a show at the theater, so make sure to call ahead and see if they’re busy.

Had a wonderful time here the other night before a show at the Newton Theater with friends. Our server was friendly and informative, and the food was all fresh and enjoyable. The atmosphere of the building is lovely, though it was pretty crowded being before a show at the theater, from what I gather they seem to get pretty busy before shows so I would make sure to make a reservation if you go. We’ll be back!

Love this place. I come here almost once a week on lunch breaks. The food is great, especially the barrel burger. Drinks are good as well. the rotate the taps pretty frequently. In the summer they open the front french doors leading to spring street to let in fresh air and give an open feel
