We dined at a light in the Attic upstairs. Very impressed with their food and the overall atmosphere and service was exceptional. We will definitely be back!

The first time I went into this place I thought it was absolutely amazing! The food was incredible. Everybody who worked there was great even the other people eating and drinking there were great. And their beer selection was amazing! We went there a couple times and loved it equally. Then there was a slight downtime where I went there expecting their usual eclectic, and amazing menu. But we were disappointed. As it turns out that was a period where they were having a hard time keeping themselves properly staffed. Today I went back in to have one beer and was completely blown away by both the menu, the beer selection, and the amazing bartender!
Michele was top notch! His beer recommendations were spot on! He even recommended a beer that he said he personally wasn’t crazy about. It was a beer that was made from beets. I could see how that wouldn’t be everybody’s thing, but I’m a beat lover! And I really enjoyed the beer. The fact that he did that was very impressive to me. Most bartenders will ask what you like and we’ll make recommendations based on that, or they’ll make recommendations based purely on what they like. I feel like he took it to a more eclectic level. So appropriate for a bar with such an eclectic menu and such an amazing beer menu.
I’m so glad to know that the one time that their food menu did not impress us was an anomaly. They’re back to being everything that I would expect them to be. Very much worth the half hour drive from our home. If you have a chance to enjoy Barley Mow in West Reading, absolutely do! And if you’re lucky enough that Michele is bartending, hit him up for a recommendation!

This was my first time at the restaurant and their set up is confusing. You have to order everything at the bar. They bring your food to the table, but if you want another beer, you have to go back to the bar.
I felt the layout was disconnected and noisy.
I ordered the pastrami melt and it was unbelievable how tough the pastrami was. It was like chewing on my belt. A salad comes with the sandwich and there were two hard pieces mixed in with a salad that I’m not really sure what they were. It almost seems like it was part of the toothpick holding the sandwich together. This was the first time in years that I have not finished my meal because it was so bad. There was no way it was worth the $24.
We got two sandwiches and two beers and our bill was $70.

I recently visited Barley Mow again and was blown away by the quality of their dishes. The Avocado Toast was a standout dish, with a stunning presentation and a perfect balance of flavors. The acidity of the pickled onions balanced out the sweetness of the mushrooms, and the pesto oil added a light and fresh component to the dish. The eggs were deliciously creamy and fluffy, and the Cheddar Scram Sammie sandwich was a 9/10. This sandwich combines their signature fluffy eggs with gooey melted cheddar cheese to create an elevated egg salad sandwich. Overall, I would give Barley Mow a 10/10 for brunch and would definitely return every weekend if I could.

I cant believe I didn’t know about this place before! When you first walk in it’s such a comfortable vibe with the artwork and relaxing seating, then the service was outstanding.
Next the food.. I cant say enough. They had unique dishes that just blew our taste buds out of this world. You will have to see for yourself.

Don’t think I’ve ever had a bad experience here. Great brunch spot and equally great night-life spot on the weekends. Perfect mix of good food, friendly service, and wonderful ambiance.
Street parking only. Need a water after 8:00 PM on the weekends? Don’t ask the bartender. Water is self-serve. There is a big tank, so anyone can help themselves, anytime. Great for old people like me who need to drink a water with every alcoholic beverage as not to be hungover for the next two days.

We popped in here for a quick drink and lunch – both were very good! Service was good as well, although we unfortunately got stuck listening to a rather gory conversation regarding hunting between a patron and a bartender. Not the best subject for eating food, but I suppose it goes with the area.
We didn’t eat outside, but the patio area looked lovely. There’s also a nice selection of beers to bring home in a make-your-own six pack.

The Ribs are absolutely AMAZING!!! So the rating does not go to them. Down side, they’re the only good thing I’ve had from this place. The lamb noodles are gamey and underwhelming, the sticky chicken is dry, too dry to chew with a sad side of rice and cucumber and tomatoes not enough for a toddler… for $22 might as well hit up the Hispanics spots in Reading for better baked chicken… that poor bird. And the veggies medley? Somehow undercooked and lacking in any sort of flavor. The ciders and can alcohol (orange+mimosa, lime+ginger, canned margarita and moscow mule) were all gross literally had to toss them all out. Very disappointing and all below mediocre besides the ribs. Save your money please

Can’t say enough good things about this place! The food is Stellar! Atmosphere is cozy and trendy. The drink selection is beyond any expectations.
Typically they have 2-3 red wine options, 2 whites and endless selection of beer! No cocktails.
We’ve visited for Sunday brunch as well and it’s out of this world! Cheers!
