Barley Hound aims to be at the forefront of the culinary experience while maintaining a welcoming and casual small town vibe. The menu is designed to please adventurous eaters, while also featuring some delicious familiar items. A house ground chuck cheeseburger with fries is just as at home on our menu as our oxtail stew or scotch egg. The menu changes seasonally due to our heavy reliance on local produce. The beverage program takes its lead from the dinner menu and focuses on local and fresh ingredients. We offer eight Arizona craft beers on draft, a small and eclectic wine list, and an extensive spirits list. Great care is taken in forming our craft cocktail menu, which features fresh, innovative cocktails, as well as classic cocktail

Cozy, woodsy-chic haunt with an inventive menu, regional craft beers & a dog-friendly outdoor patio.

This was my first stop in Prescott and it was perfect. Super dog-friendly—my sweet server brought out a Frisbee filled with rice and boiled meat just for the pups! She was so friendly and gave me all the insider tips on Prescott.
I had a duck burger (first time ever!) with a fresh salad and homemade dressing—everything was made from scratch and delicious. Such a great way to start the trip. Highly recommend!

This place is amazing. The Brussel sprouts were life changing. Incredible service, everyone is so nice. My dog also loved it and was spoiled with beef and rice. We will be back!

We were really excited to give this place a shot. The atmosphere is fantastic, I loved the decor and the vibe. The cocktails were fantastic and really pretty and the menu was right up our alley. We had the shaved Brussels sprouts, the ribs and tenders (although they were out of tenders so extra ribs and fries), the fried shrimp basket, and the bacon wrapped scallops. The ribs were the star, they were absolutely delicious and fall-off-the-bone tender. The fries were great, as were the Brussels sprouts. The scallops, though, were awful. They were overcooked and tough and had an overwhelming fishy taste. Service was good, particularly by the bartender who brought our drinks. He was incredibly personable and friendly. Our server seemed a little overwhelmed but still took good care of us. Overall we really want to come back and try again because a lot of the dishes we saw going by looked amazing!

Came here with a big group of people (14) for dinner and it was great! Atmosphere was awesome. Patio area is so nice. Food was great. I only took a pic of my own dish but everything the group got looked good. A little pricey but I think worth it.

First time I’ve tried this place, even though I’ve been in the area over 4 years. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was very relaxed and unique.

Prices are a little on the high side but that’s kind of what you expect for this type of restaurant.

Not sure if the duck fat french fries are just a gimmick or if it adds anything to them. They are tasty. Maybe I get that flavored ones next time

The homemade spicy ketchup with awesome. I didn’t even realize that it was homemade when they brought it out. I’m not usually a big ketchup fan but I did enjoy it.

The fresh basil in the water in the bottles on the table was a nice touch. It doesn’t really add a lot of flavor but you can kind of taste it. But more so it’s just pretty

I’ll be back and try other dishes!

Came here for a birthday dinner a while ago because I just couldn’t leave my dog at home. They were super friendly, gave my dog water and snack, and even let me order off the kids menu as an adult because of dietary restrictions. Absolutely 10/10.

I really enjoyed my experience at The Barley Hound. This small restaurant is tucked away behind the historic courthouse building in downtown Prescott. When my wife and I arrived, we were greeted and seated promptly. Our waiter was amazing and memorized our order without any problems. We ordered the Burrata as well as the mushrooms for an appetizer. For our entrees, we ordered the ‘Merica Burger and the fish sandwich. Both were really good. We did order a side of duck fries as well – these were pretty good, but honestly, they did not taste too different than normal french fries. Either way, I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Prescott, especially if you’re looking for something a little different than a normal chain style restaurant.

This is my second time at this restaurant and each time it doesn’t miss. Not only is the patio, absolutely beautiful and relaxing with all of the shaded trees, but the staff is kind and efficient. The cherry on top is the incredible food and drinks. I enjoyed a spicy margarita, buratta and the duck burger. The cocktail was light and refreshing, the buratta was so good with the cooked grapes and the duck burger had a great flavor. The portions are generous so you will definitely have leftovers.

This is a wonderful restaurant, make sure to stop by and enjoy it. ✨

The Barley Hound: Lovely Setting, but Disappointing Dining Experience

I was excited to try The Barley Hound, drawn by its beautiful location in an old house with a welcoming patio that sets a cozy, rustic tone. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t quite live up to my expectations, especially when it came to the food and service.

Having checked out the menu online beforehand, we arrived with a few dishes in mind. However, we were disappointed to find that two of the items we’d planned to order were either unavailable or no longer on the menu. This kind of menu inconsistency was a letdown, and we had to scramble to find alternatives.

We decided to start with the charred Brussels sprouts, but they arrived with an overwhelmingly burnt aroma that immediately signaled something was off. I’m not sure what method or ingredient was used to “char” these, but it completely overpowered the dish, making it inedible. Even my date agreed, which confirmed it wasn’t just my taste. We told the server and she seemed a bit clueless about the entire thing and did nothing to rectify the situation. Thankfully, at the end she did remove it from the bill.

We also ordered the pickled beet salad, expecting a flavorful, tangy dish with vibrant colors and textures. Instead, it was uninspired and surprisingly sparse on the beets, leaving the salad feeling plain and unexciting. Lastly, we tried another dish that turned out to be equally forgettable and didn’t leave any lasting impression.

While The Barley Hound has an inviting ambiance and is located in a charming space, it falls short where it counts: the food. With a menu that doesn’t deliver on its promises and uninspired flavors, this visit was a letdown. I genuinely hope they can make adjustments to better reflect the lovely setting they have, but based on my experience, it’s hard to recommend The Barley Hound as a top dining option in Prescott.

The Barley Hound is attempting some great things — an inviting dog-friendly courtyard, good music, and a menu slanted toward duck-fat happiness. On our recent visit, there were a few service snags, and the menu seemed weighted too heavily with sirloin (e.g., both the duck burger and the pork burger are blended with beef), but overall it’s a great vibe here. Prices are a little higher than you might find elsewhere in town, especially for the wines, but the patio dining space elevates the whole experience and makes the Barley Hound well worth a visit. (The photos were after we were busy devouring the generous portions.)
