The server was very nice and patient with the customers. The plates came with very LARGE size portions; enough to make two meals.
I had chopped beef and links with potato salad, baked beans and coleslaw slaw.

It was our first time trying the restaurant (1/10/26). It was almost 6 pm on a Saturday night. We should have taken the hint in the fact that the restaurant was almost completly empty. The staff wasn’t rude but wasn’t overly welcoming or informative. We really didn’t have an idea what was included. We started by ordering a 3 meat, all brisket plate. I wanted all beef. We were told that none of the meats could be doubled up on. That it was a sampling of meats and they had to be different. I’ve never been told at any BBQ place before that I could only have one serving of any of the meats. We then ordered one rib plate, ribs were very dry, watered down sauce was poured over them. Second plate was the worst dried out brisket we have ever had. Due to allergies and lack of ingredient knowledge I opted for no sauce. Between the rice and the beans, the rice looked the least dried out. However taste wise was not very good. What we thought was mashed potatoes was ice cold mashed potato salad. Which seemed very odd. We both had peach cobbler. The peach filling was good but was self serve and mainly crust only. We left at 7:30pm. There was only one other table the entire time, two to go orders, and not sure what the drive through did. Not sure if the lack of business was why the food was dried out or it was the other way around. Unfortunately we have to cross this restaurant off on the return list and can not recommend it.

The food at this little restaurant I was hoping to better than it was, however, the barbeque was very dry. It’s no wonder they have to drown the meats in salt and pepper and you have to use barbeque sauce to make the dryness go away.
Now for where I am going to be quite blunt: 3.5 percent surcharge for credit cards is astronomical. There are better ways to do it than to add the charge to the credit card. Maybe instead you increase the prices across the board and let it factor in the card charge. Also, this business of being short staffed and all that nonsense is just that..NONSENSE! You can’t be blaming something from 6 years ago for your lack of knowing how to run a business. Too many businesses are running under this umbrella and many of those are finding that they are losing serious business because the places that have figured it out are taking them to task. I hope the best for this restaurant and hope that you can find ways to better the business. Because unfortunately if you continue on this path you won’t last.

Nice mom and pop feel diner. Meats are cut for you but sides are self serve. Beans were a star, coleslaw not so much. Got a 3 meat and tried the turkey, brisket, and sausage. Sauce is good. Also ordered fully loaded potato and blackberry cobbler. Cobbler is sweet and delicious and the potato was tender and good. We stayed and chatted for over 45 minutes and never felt rushed.

The meat is consistently delicious!! I will be 64 in a couple of days and I’ve been eating here since I was a child. When it was in the location across from what is now Walmart. The sides are average. Service is with a smile. The brisket is cooked exactly how brisket should be cooked!!

Stopped by The BBQ Shop for lunch while passing thru town. I’m glad I did! What a great BBQ joint. It opened in 1959! We enjoyed brisket & pulled pork sandwiches with beans, slaw, pimento cheese stuffed jalapeño and apple cobbler with sweet tea. I was all delicious! I especially enjoyed the cobbler. It was very reasonably priced, a great atmosphere and the service was top shelf. Don’t change a thing. I’ll drop by next time I’m in town.

I was in town for a work event and to start moving furniture to our new house in Houston. It was a long day of packing up a truck and my brother wanted a Beef & Link Po-Boy. He couldn’t have made a better choice for lunch. The link has just the right heat and the beef is smoked to perfection! They chop the meat in front of you, shake on more seasonings and add their homemade bbq sauce. It is all amazing! I didn’t get any side this time but I have tried them all and they are great! Remember if you want a Ribeye Po-Boy you should be there before the lunch rush.

We were starved and just so happened to see this place and said why not. The pulled pork sandwich wasn’t bad at all nor the sides. The customer service could of been a little more welcoming.

I had originally given this place 5 stars.. however they have went downhill. Now all their food is worse than cafeteria food. It’s like all they do is reheat precooked food. Their sauces are so very watered down that you might as well just use plain water. The pictures were from our first time here 7 months ago. I wish they would go back to that…

If I could give this place 10 stars, I definitely would! This place is AMAZING! Service is OUTSTANDING! I’m 99% Vegan & come in at least once a week to have lunch with my husband on his break. The big boss man knows my order by heart. I always get a Baked Potato with butter, cheese, & BBQ Sauce (no meat) with rice & beans & a pecan pie. Living in itty bitty Nac-a-no-where, our Vegan options are extremely limited. So sometimes I just have to pick my battles & realize that butter &/or cheese is going to end up on something, because everything in this town is strictly meat & cheese. Service is always great- place is always clean- food is always yummy!
