What an attractive, intimate gem in Washington. I love an old-bank-turned-restaurant! My husband and I were there for an overnight, and when I found out they were having a prime rib special, I reserved a table (this restaurant doesn’t have a ton of seating so highly recommend reservations). The food was delicious, but was not served hot, or even warm. I received some personal attention regarding the matter and of course, the offer to send it back to the kitchen, but I didn’t bother…because it was so dang tasty, I ate every last morsel. Our server was wonderful as was management. Highly recommend. The entire menu looked fab. I’ll definitely return when I’m back in the area.

If you haven’t been to downtown Washington NC, you should. The city has done a lot of work to revitalize this area and it’s working.
We had never tried The Bank Bistro so we thought we’d go make a withdrawal .
The atmosphere was pleasant. Conversation was easy as the noise level inside was low.
We were sat at a table overlooking the street. You could still feel and see some of the remnants of the old bank. Very nice.
We don’t normally eat the bread offered prior to the meal. Simply trying to cut carbs and calories. The waitress sat it down before I could object so I thought what the heck I’ll have a piece. I slathered on some of the butter and took a bit. OMG, the butter was homemade honey butter. We ended up devouring that order and requested a second. And yea, the second was gone by the end of the night. So much for cutting cals and carbs!!
My entrée was the blackened ribeye. My wife’s, the salmon and scallops.
When I order a steak, I want it thick. I’m so disappointed when I get a steak and it comes out like 3/8 to 1/2” thick. They should call that lunch meat ribeye! How can you keep a steak that thin moist? You can’t!
When my steak came out I was so happy to see this thing was thick, and big! Cooked to absolute perfection. Topped with a blue cheese sauce and crispy onions. This thing was a steak lovers dream come true!!
It was moist, flavorful, and tender. What more could you ask for?
Normally I end up finishing my wife’s plate and I can comment on hers too but I hurt myself eating this steak. I couldn’t stop. I’m thinking maybe I should start a support group for people like myself addicted to steak. SEA, steaks eaters anonymous. I can see it now, a bunch of big bellied men sitting around in a circle with grease dripping off their chins, “I don’t know what happened, I just couldn’t stop”.
Service was top notch too. Our waitress was very knowledgeable of the menu and gave her personal recommendations when asked. Our glasses never went empty and we didn’t have to wait forever for the bill. Outstanding!
Cost? I would consider The Bank Bistro fine dining. For fine dining you’re going to pay extra. I don’t mind paying extra as long as the atmosphere, food and service are all “fine” also. No complaints. Just know, you’re going to pay more than you would at let’s say Outback.
Overall, we loved it. I would highly recommend The Bank Bistro.

It’s one of little Washington’s must-try fine dining restaurants! We recommend reservations, especially on tomahawk night, which is when we visited most recently. The food quality and preparation are superb! Additionally, they went out of their way to accommodate my wife, as she is vegetarian and didn’t immediately see a dish on the menu for her. They made her a special order pasta which she loved! Can’t wait for the next visit!

We had an awesome experience! We visited on Saturday at 5pm.. we did not have a reservation but can see that you would need one during busier times because there are 13 tables, of various sizes, and the bar. The chef conducted a symphony of flavor and taste. Ashley was our server and you will be very lucky to have her serve and take care of you! We started with their homemade bread and honey butter, followed by a fresh seasonal salad (butter lettuce with strawberries, raspberries, goat cheese and candied pecans with a vinagrete dressing) butternut squash soup. The main dish was Dijon salmon with risotto and spinach, superbly prepared. For dessert we enjoyed turtle cheesecake. We had Cabernet Sauvignon with our meal and enjoyed their fig and honey mixed drink after dessert. Both were enjoyable! The Fig and honey drink was more sour than expected but tasted crisp at the same time. Could have tasted sour because of the very sweet cheesecake as wll. My husband and I shared all of our meal so we could also eat dessert. The decor has a European flair and is very nice and comfortable. Parking is on the street. There is a fairly nearby public park lot that would require walking a few blocks.

Make reservations and enjoy this lively and vibrant atmosphere that offers great food along with it. The food did not lack in any flavor and the drinks were perfection. Short ribs were tender and rich and the shrimp and grits weren’t lacking in anything. Only reason I didn’t give a 5 star is because it could have been a little less sauce in the shrimp and grits because it took away from the great grit texture we love. Also too much inedible fat on the short ribs. Could have been trimmed a little better for a better eating experience. With that being said, I would frequent again and enjoy those bold flavors The Bank offers when I’m back in town.

The Bank Bistro’s ambiance is warm, cozy, and romantic; its a great place to enjoy a nice meal.
The food is good, but a bit expensive for the portion.
The staff was friendly and helpful.
Experience The Bank Bistro for a nice occasion, you will enjoy it!
Parking is limited; you have to parallel park, and when it’s busy you may have to park on another street and walk to the restaurant.

Amazing establishment in the downtown historic district. The restaurant is in an old bank and the bar has all the alcohol in the vault, very cool layout. Food was next level, very well curated and flavors were on point. Can’t wait to try another dish.

The good… Unique and intimate setting in an old bank. The bad… The food was somewhere between disappointing and unimpressive. My marsala with chicken was a bowl of overcooked noodles with an assortment of mushrooms and an imperceptible amount of sauce. The chicken was an thin cutlet that was laid on the noodles like an afterthought. At more than $40, I expected more than this.

In short… I’d recommend stopping in for a drink to enjoy the service, setting and the unique bar. After a cocktail you can go eat down the street.

I went recently with my friends for a Sunday brunch. The food and service was fantastic! I got Eggs Benedict and it was cooked to perfection. The hollandaise sauce was interesting because it was slightly tart. It was different, but still very very good. My friends got steak and eggs, shrimp and grits, and biscuits and gravy, respectively. They all said their food was fantastic too. Our waitress was awesome and had a great sense of humor. Unfortunately, I can’t remember her name, but she was still amazing. Overall, I’d say go there for some top notch brunch.

Fantastic restaurant. Went there for a birthday dinner with our daughter and we all agreed that everything from the drinks, to appetizers, to main courses were tremendous. All very well seasoned, well prepared, and phenomenal taste. The server was great, too. One of those restaurant experiences where you don’t mind the cost because you’re getting what you pay for! Highly recommended.
