We recently moved to the area and were happy to find The Backyard, we’ve been here several times since. Food is good, drinks are good, and the atmosphere is fun and casual. Service is great and the staff are very friendly. We haven’t experienced the outdoor area – yet. They host a number of parties and have entertainment – games, music, etc. As some have said, service can get a bit slow when they’re busy – but do you really want to go to a restaurant that has nobody in it?

I really didn’t eat but the hummus place was good. Bar was on top of your order.Atmosphere fun and lively. I was outside enjoying a band 3 monkeys they played a wide variety of fun music to listen and dance too! Not really any dance area so danced in grass…otherwise fun time,!

Absolutely nothing has changed with new ownership. Came in to eat. Sat on patio. Waited for 25 mins and nobody came to serve us. Tons of volleyball people and one poor person behind the bar. It’s a great place if owners/management could service and take care of customers.
So we had to take our business to a different place that had a patio. Unfortunately we couldn’t support this local business. :(.

Great neighborhood bar… drinks are good and cold, food is hot and fresh. service was great. They have Keno and pull tabs. They also had great live music on Saturday night. Prices are decent. They also have an awesome back patio area. I highly recommend checking it out.

Stopped in here recently. Service was good as far as our server was concerned. Other workers, not so much. Burger tasted like a salt lick. Back off the seasoning, way too salty. Fries were not for me. I don’t care for frozen coated fries. I doubt I will return. Menu was incredibly small but is expanding so I was told. I just feel with so many other places to go I don’t feel the need to return.

Glad that new owners stepped-in and quickly re-opened The Backyard in time for spring/summer 2025. They are learning and making changes as they still offer a nice outside patio with bar and tables to serve the residents of Brunswick and surrounding burbs. Outside bartenders are friendly and efficient. I have found that I am spending almost double at The Backyard now than I had with prior owners; for maybe a couple of brews, wings and fries, etc. Overall, the menu isn’t too impressive at this point; I understood it was going to be improved, but I don’t know where that stands. What the owners need to offer is a Happy Hour from 3 – 6 weekdays with discounted drinks and some half price appetizers; this is what initially brought me in a few years ago. Pricing some cans of beers over six-fifty is too much for a local suburban bar. It’s not like the bar is on a lake or in the Downtown or W25th street area – that could drive people to check-out some of the other outside patios in the area. It would have been a waste of venue just sitting there doing nothing had the new owners not taken the chance; I will support them through the end of the summer at least.
