Tonight was a blast from the past! They were so accommodating for our group of 20 people. My wife and I lived in MS all our life. We moved to Birmingham in 2021. We were here for a grandson’s birth and decided to get friends together for a crawfish fix! We can’t find any good crawfish in Birmingham! The Back Porch came through for us to have a wonderful time with great friends! We have a scheduled granddaughter coming April 1st and planning on another get together with friends again then! Can’t wait! They are unbelievable! Give em a shot!!!

Great atmosphere is about all this place has to offer. They don’t have servers they have food runners. If I’m paying $100 plus for a meal I prefer to be waited on instead of standing in line every time we need to order something. Went for crawfish, crab legs and shrimp and none of them are seasoned enough.

The place itself is really nice and the service was great everyone super friendly but the crawfish where bland, the boudin balls where burnt, the cheese curds had cold spots in them, the fried pickles where soggy, the burger was also bland, and the fried shrimp where hard as a rock….

3 stars because the food was ok and the beer did not disappoint. But the atmosphere…picture a club with the lights on. Yeah, not pretty. At least my kids could play foosball while we waited for our food. We were attended to by 3 different waitresses. That did not triple the attentiveness. We were left with empty cups. I had to go to the bar for more drinks because one of our waitresses was the bartender. If your goal is to hang out and play pool and get your food whenever, you’re gonna love it. If you are just taking your family out, take note, this is glorified bar food. I really wanted it to be better. I was hopeful. The outdoor lights and seating that I saw online are dreamy. It was too hot to sit outside. Maybe it will be better in the fall. ♀️

Definitely a 10/10 experience. If you don’t like a little loud and rowdy experience, then The Back Porch might not be for you. Go check out the front porch down the street.
I was very happy that I chose here amongst the other 25 crawfish locations in Jackson, disregarding the small amount of reviews The Back Porch has. The staff was polite and lively. Loved the live music as well
As for the food, I’d give the craw a 9 out of 10, but was not falling short on anything! Size and spice was all on point. I cannot believe how good the crab and shrimp was too, but I could be biased because I haven’t had much crab in my time. Definitely worth trying!
If you’re looking for cheap, The Back Porch is not the low cost leader but they don’t rip you off on the quality. Their sausage side is surprisingly good
(P.s. the random young girl with braces that showed me where the bathroom was but accidentally said left instead of right and then over corrected herself needs a raise! Such a sweetheart!)

After looking at good reviews and having people recommend them we decided to swing by for some crawfish- spent about $140.00 or so (i absolutely love crawfish) and honestly have to say it was VERY disappointing. Dunno if it was a bad/off day but it was some of the worst tasting crawfish I’ve had to date… even the sides were bad. Music was way too loud. Most of charcuterie board was nice except the cut up string cheese. We had to go to the bar to order food, no wait staff. Earlier in the year, sitting on the actual back porch and eating crawfish during season was great. We were t impressed with the wine tasting event, disappointing.
