The restaurant is huge, with lots of tables, you can decide either indoor or outdoor seating. The food was good, and we would love to try more of their menu someday. The only downside was that the food almost took an hour and it wasn’t even busy. Maybe it was just a bad day at the kitchen, but we’ll definitely try to stop by again. Also, i didn’t notice until later that the minimum tip was 25%. I guess there’s a “custom tip,” but we were used to the 20% minimum. Just a heads up.

Excellent burgers. Kids chicken strips were very good. Very cool dining area and patio. Staff was very nice and friendly. Docked one star for two things. I didn’t like how they charged a credit card fee. I don’t think we were billed correctly for the slider deal we ordered.

Loved the decor and the menu. I could eat here for a week straight and still have more things to try! The reason it’s getting 4 stars for food and atmosphere was because my husband wasn’t in love with his experience. The doors were open which he doesn’t like because of the warm temperatures and bugs, which is why we sit inside. He also had to chop his own salad and didn’t love that either.

I would highly recommend this restaurant even if you’re just traveling through It is worth the drive off of i-90. We sampled the hamburgers which had excellent flavor and interesting choices. The atmosphere was fun along with darts and a pool table. We had excellent service while we were there and a view of the corn palace to boot.

I would say that the service over all has gone down since the first time we experienced eating at the Back 40 tap house grill. We have had really good food at times and then some hit and miss with the burgers. The burger was also missing some ingredients.

Loved the decor inside! Carved my name on the wall in the bathroom!!!! Food was great. Fries were phenomenal (too much salt for my companion) Doors for tables, cool idea! We both had the American with beef patty! The Famous Corn Palace was 1/2 block away!!

This was a great dog friendly restaurant right across from the renowned Corn Palace. We were greeted by staff as we came in and seated quickly. Drinks were good as was the meal. Our server had a special treat for our pup which was nice. The back area could have been a little tidier, but it WAS dog friendly. It’s possible THAT’S on some clientele. Five stars on the hot pepper jam.

Delicious food, friendly attentive staff. We stopped on our way west because the menu looked like the most fun in town and it didn’t disappoint! It was quick service granted we got there shortly after they opened. If I’m going through Mitchell again I’ll definitely stop there with friends with bigger appetites, large portions!

Wife and I first time here. Staff was friendly. Staff seemed busy. We were asked by two different people what we wanted to drink, before we got them. Took a while to take our order and almost as long to get our food. I’d say about 30 minutes from the time we sat down, until we got the food. I ordered the Ranch burger with a side of kettle chips. The food was very good. However is was more of a bar sence than a restaurant, which is probably the idea. Would definitely come back for the food, but probably to go.

Had kind of a hipsters vibe to it. Good selection of local beers. Food was way better than expected. Had a steak medium, and the cook got it perfect medium. They have the best fries that I have ever had!

This is a cool spot. I was visiting the corn palace and wanted to find somewhere near by to have a quick bite to eat. I am so glad I found The Back 40 Taphouse. I got Jerk Chicken sandwich… one of the best sandwiches I’ve had. The spicy from the jalapeño balanced by the sweet from the pineapple…. so good!
