I arrived about 7 PM on a Tuesday evening to a relatively empty bar/restaurant. There were two other guests sitting at the bar, and I sat myself there as well since I was a single diner. The bartender was very friendly, and we discussed the bourbons and ryes she had one hand and I ordered an old-fashioned. She made a very tasty version with a Templeton rye, and I ordered a large beet salad, which was fresh and well-made. Still a bit hungry. I ordered the Tuesday chicken taco special, which conveniently could’ve been ordered as a single taco or two tacos. That hit the spot. Unfortunately there was no live music tonight. I was there. I understand open Mike night is Thursdays.

The mac and cheese + bacon was some of the vest ive had in years! Amazing bacon, crispy, flavorful and plentuful. The burgers where amazing as well. Typical bar pricing but well worth it for special occasions or a date night everyweekend!

Nacho soup, flat beer, slow service, practically raw tots, and outrageously expensive. Will never come here again!!

Worst food I have ever had. I couldn’t believe what was served to us. Appetizer: cheese curds, borderline burned.. I had ordered a fiddle chicken sandwich that was so burned that you couldnt find any of the meat that was white inside. The wait staff ask how my food was, seeing that I had picked it apart and not eaten any of it, I told her it was burnt and she said that is blackened chicken that is how it comes, and gave me the $70.00 bill. First I want to say nowhere on the menu does this sandwich say it is blacken chicken. (I have had delicious blackened chicken in lots of places. Not the same as burnt chicken.) Second that is the worst customer service I have ever experienced, when you see that your customer isn’t happy with the dinner and you can clearly see that their food isn’t up to par you send it back to the cook for a remake or at the very least you remove it from the bill. Instead I get a to go box for my burnt food that even my dog wouldn’t eat. This is my honest review and I will NOT be eating there again. That being said, I always try to find something positive in every situation. So I will tell you my drink was tasty and live music was good. I dont recommend you eat there.

We were passing through Cottage Grove late on a Monday and did not want fast food. Found this Bar and Grill and glad we did! We had the shrimp and grits and the French dip and fries. The ketchup was homemade! Friendly staff 🙂 Perfection! They’re open until 10:00

There’s been a very noticeable decline in food quality at Axe&Fiddle this year. Just had dinner here between 5-6 pm and it was one of the worst (and expensive for the poor quality) restaurant dinners I have ever had. The fish & chips I ordered were served with the deep fried fish on top of soggy french fries and a tiny (about 1 tbsp) black-plastic cup of desiccated coleslaw. The first piece of fish tasted off but I ate it. The 2nd piece was good. The 3rd piece tasted like ammonia, I did not finish it after the first bite. The restaurant was cold. The $18 salad we ordered had much less ingredients on it compared to the past times we‘ve ordered it. The waitress did not return to check in with us during the meal even though the place was 3/4 empty. When we were finished, she quickly cleared the plates and did not ask about the food. I seriously considered not leaving a tip, but I have never done that before. I did 10% instead of my usual 20%, because employees are not fully at fault for owners business decisions.
However, this so-called “meal“ will be our last at Axe&Fiddle because 3 months ago we had a similar experience in which the meat in my wife’s chicken tacos was off and she was nauseated for hours afterwards. Such a shame, in the past we’ve had some truly legendary meals here.

This place is more of a bar than a restaurant I think. So you think the margarita I ordered wouldnt have been “fun-size” like those little candy bars on Halloween lol.. But it was. That being said, the food was great and the server was really friendly and even laughed when I commented on how small the drink was. I’ll go back here but it’s probably not somwhere id take my mother to dinner to again.

23/11/23 Day before Thankgiving. We wanted some quick dinner and my in-laws highly recommends their clam chowder. First & foremost, service was outstanding, a great pair of hostess and bartender running the whole show.
My hubby & I ordered their very scrumptious clam chowder which included 2 slices of wonderful Sourdough bread. We also love the side order of sweet potato tots. Looking forward to trying other items on their menu next we visit.
I also highly recommend their House Ginger Soda – so refreshing.

Excellent atmosphere and service. The food was tasty – the fried pickles are the best I’ve had in some time. The burger was also well made and flavorful,.my only gripe was the bun. Would recommend to anyone for a date night or a brew and burger.
