Slightly off the beaten path, this is and is A down home, family style place where everything is made with love and made to order. Portions are great for the price and my meal tasted a lot like my childhood. Fresh fried chicken (Midwest style), creamy mashed potatoes with chicken gravy and green beans that tasted like my grandmother’s canned ones- a little bit of ham, some onions, and a ton of flavor. I wish I would have had the appetite for one of their desserts. And if I’m passing through again for breakfast, I suspect they have country favorites like biscuits and gravy.
A couple of notes: There’s not a lot of parking and it’s not fast food. But if you’re passing through Urbana and craving comfort food it’s certainly worth the stop.

The chicken and noodles is really chicken and dumplings. Only the dumplings are smaller. I was asked if I wanted a roll and thinking that would be included, said yes. Apparently, they are an extra 1.50. Granted, they’re huge, but very yeasty. I didn’t care for it. The biggest disappointment was the apple dumpling. I’m used to a crispy flaky crust. Unfortunately, it was served sitting in a very watery cinnamon sauce, so the whole thing was soggy. The cinnamon flavor was overpowering. It might be a lot better without the sauce. You can get it with ice cream but I didn’t opt for that. The prices are high. The service was great. Very friendly people.

Wow.. what a homey little secret! Actually we’ve heard about this place for a while; our grandmother said she loved coming here. We happened to be in the area today and remembered about it so we googled the info and saw they were open. So dang glad we did!! I got the homemade chicken & noodles and he got the ham beans and cornbread; seriously good and hit the spot! For dessert we shared the apple dumpling with ice cream. Apples aren’t my favorite but this was amazingly good, especially with the ice cream!! Our server, she was wonderful, can tell she’s been there and knows all the regulars and we love that! Definitely will take time to make the trek back over (we live about an hour away!) thanks for a wonderful early dinner!

We were a large group of about 15 people. The server was very organized. Everyone received exactly what they ordered in a timely manner. All of bills were correct. Several people ordered the fried chicken plate and were happy with their meals.

After driving by many times, it sparked my interest to try this restaurant. Walking inside, I wondered if I had made the right choice, the decor isn’t vintage but just old and doesn’t flow. We ordered the Fried Chicken and Beef N’ Noodles. The chicken was the best fried chicken I’ve had outside of the South. The Beef N’ Noodles tastes really good too. The sides were not great but edible. We ordered the Apple Dumplin’ even though we were full and it is not to be missed. I would go back just for this dessert.

The food itself was ok..their star breakfast item was biscuits and gravy..i had French toast with bacon..it was cooked a little bit hard but Davis a hit or miss item ..the fried potatoes were not that great..overall the meal was ok..i will definitely not be coming back soon..again this is my own opinion

The food is really good and most the waiters are very kind and polite however I called them a few days and assume they were busy because whoever answered the phone did not seem like they were very happy I wouldn’t exactly say they were rude they just weren’t nice. Still most definetly recommend them if you want some good southern food and eat in a nice homely environment.
